The Englishman's retreat is very high on my list and I'll definitely be giving them a call .I've been on there website and it seems ideal for our requirements

It seems the better option for us as a family is to venture out from the main centre as there are a lot of mixed opinions on the hotels in udon,plus the fact having a young family would be better to stay away from the noise and use a taxi in or out if we fancy some action or late nights

Looks to me like the Irish clock gets the vote for Christmas dinner.As I've never been there I'm wondering do they have facilities for small children like a play area inside,and do they have high chairs?.And finally do they do child menus?

We, the family and friends have been going to Steve and Marlie's establishments for the last 5-6 years be it the original Steve's Bar, Steve's Bar on the ring-road and latterly The Irish Clock. I can honestly say that at no time have we been disappointed, the staff dress in their Christmasy outfits...

You may well lauph but at this time of the year the locals are rugged up in Jackets and hats and can't stand the bitter cold. Hi everyone.Can anybody recommend a good restaurant which has all the authenticity of christmas and serves up the traditional menu.We plan on spending christmas and new year in udon.Myself and the wife and 2 year old.

I think the best way to use my uk account in thai is to transfer funds which will cost about 25pounds and during my stay use the wifes atm card to withdraw for free.

Well for the chosen few of us with thai wifes it seems the only way to withdraw money from ATM's is to use the wifes bank account

since only going to be there for a couple months, i would suggest AIS sim card for your cell phone, approx 200 baht for sim card and 374 for 100 hrs a month. slow, but dependable. I'm spending time in ban leum just outside udon thani for a month or two at my wifes house which has no landline.

I was refering to pop pop's internet cafe in udon thani.There seems to be no activity inside and outside.

I dont know if anyone can confirm but i'm sure there was a 747 at phitsanlok airport a couple of years ago minus the engines
