Re: Visa Extension

I toned down the post GREATLY for obvious reasons. Money has always been part of the equation but it looks like this virus is like all their christmas's have come at once.

Re: Visa Extension

A couple of friends of mine who need to get extensions to visas went to immigration yesterday, one with a letter from the Norwegian embassy and one with a fax from UK agency saying letter on way. I will not detail here exactly what happened , but not pleasant and involved money.

Re: Medication, Solution to Covid-19

Yes KP, commonsense ( which is not as common as it should be) is always the way to go IMO. Just a thought. You do not wash your hands and clean surfaces with just plain water as it does not kill bacteria and other germs, you need an alcohol based cleaner, so perhaps drinking beer is healthier than d...

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

Thanks pal52. I was very remiss in my post. It is UK , who are not supplying this info. so delaying my decision for a visit soon. It calls to mind that if the UK are obviously massaging the figures, where do we go from here.

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

I do not understand why the figures always show how many people have tested positive and hospitalised, but do not tell how many have been released from hospital ,obviously cured. Perhaps that would mean the fear factor might diminish.... Just a thought ?

Pattaya and Walking Street

I was informed yesterday by GF's relative that walking street has been closed for maintenance work and all bars etc are empty.
I believe this is just an excuse not to send money for her son's upkeep.
Any comments from those on here who regularly visit Pattaya.

Re: Gloom and doom or sum num na

The late nineteenth century writings of Marx and Engles spelt it out clearly then. To control a country you have to eradicate the middle classes. In any system there will be rich and poor, even marxist states. Middle classes are feared by the elite for their knowledge and determination to strive for...

Re: Gloom and doom or sum num na

Correct, however I love living in Thailand despite all the perceived 'downs'. The pluses IMO, Food, Climate, Local people, vibrant multi national expat community. To cap it as a Brit. I am happy to live here as a second class citizen, rather than UK , where I am probably 4 th class. 55555.

Re: Gloom and doom or sum num na

I would not hold your breath waiting for this current adminstration lightening up on us 'foreigners' as you put it. Since the army took control, the richest Thai families who ultimately control the country , have seen their wealth vastly increased. They have never cared for the poorer, poorest Thais...

Re: Vegan recommendations please

If your are strictly vegan then I suggest that you buy, prepare and cook your food yourself. You can never be 100% sure if you eat in restaurants as to ingredients, oils used etc. Issan food is largely vegetarian in my mind, as opposed to where I come from, but Issan food is one of the reasons that ...
