Re: SCB to stop Easynet banking via the website

Still does not make me want to use a phone over a dual screen PC for me banking (and most other things, really). Agreed!! I certainly hope K/Bank does not follow suit. I do find their Phone app very good both in Thailand and here (in Aust.). BUT there are the little things like downloading account ...

Re: Thai Vietjet Airline

Very similar circumstances as @rick, only the once and would only use em again as a last resort. Very old aircraft with a new paint job and a lot of rattles. Landed on time BUT parked on the apron at Swampy miles away from the terminal and took forever for the busses to get us in there.

Re: Advice upon death of an Australian citizen

I've been in that situation on two occasions and found the Consular Section of the Australian Embassy extremely helpful and easy to talk too. They will need a copy of his Passport (which I just emailed to them) and Death Certificate when available, maybe in this case the hospital will do both. Provi...

Re: Local 4G, 4G+ and 5G coverage

Showing a 5G (4 Bar) coverage at my home in the rice paddies. Will be interesting to see when I get back in a few weeks with my new 5G Phone! Off Topic:- Getting plenty of 5G in the main city and country locations near Adelaide but only 4G and worse further out into the bush. I'm staying some 120 km...

Re: Possible Life Forms On Enceladus

NASA was aware of this and other possibilities during the Cassini 20 year mission/odyssey. That's why they crashed it into Saturn rather than the REMOTE possibility it could be carrying something that could contaminate these moons. VERY Interesting! https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/missions/cassini/miss...

Re: Russia descending into internal chaos

I'm thinking the only thing that will come of all this is Prigozhin had better watch his "6". A mysterious heavy toxin is surely going to find him somewhere, sometime! Maybe in the form of one of his "culinary delights".

"Putin ally Lukashenko 'flees Belarus'"
At this stage and as near as I can see there is NO conformation of this event in any other news media - here in Aust, UK or elsewhere.

As coincidence would have it the 50th anniversary of Australia's final "retreat" from Vietnam was celebrated yesterday. Many interviews being aired here with veterans and their hostile welcome home. A sad indictment on the era in many ways.

Re: Will ‘The Voice’ be the answer

I'm currently in Australia and note that some media outlets are heavily biased in their commentary and broadcast agenda. The ABC, in particular, are big advocates for the YES vote. I'm yet to see em interview or show any NO vote coverage. Personally I don't care as I don't think it will make much di...

Re: What Was Your Favourite Job?

In the late 80's the American, based multinational, "Industrial Process Control" company I was working for hinted at closing their Australian operations. Seeing the writing on the wall my direct boss and I quit and started our own business in the same industry. Very hard first few years, both mortga...

Re: 15yo fires shots into a Perth School

You condem the parents, on what basis? Registered firearms in WA must be kept in a locked cabinet, but a 15 year old can figure out where the keys are. The little darlings find their hidden Xmas presents too. Houses are not bastions of security. Do you have first hand knowledge of this family that ...

Re: 15yo fires shots into a Perth School

The quality of the parenting leaves a lot to question. Not only was the 15yo able to get hold of their (registered) rifles and ammunition but also their SUV. They are being assessed also to see if they are capable of being responsible for the boy if he is released on bail at the next court appearanc...

Hey, if you can't beat em join em. As a share holder of CBA & NAB for many years I'm laughing me sox off. Capital gains and dividend yields have been great with the RBA interest rate hikes and the strategies used, the CBA is cruising around AUD$100.00 per share and dividend @ 7 % pa plus franking cr...

OK it was a hot month and we used more power as appliances worked harder but it was the rate that jumped.

Ours went from 4.344 B/unit to 5.4098 B/unit - something like a 20+% rise

Re: Tile cleaner

My wife uses a product called Duck to clean the bathroom floor. If you let it on the floor too long it will eat the grout. Our village water is very hard. She sprayed the car windows and they dried with very hard to remove water spots. I finally put on a rubber glove and used the Duck on the window...
