Re: John's budget build

Been a while since I visited here; I will put up some pics as things have moved along a little. As foreshadowed in the previous post, we have moved out of the house we rented in Udon city for the previous 11 years and all of our furniture and appliances are now in the new house. That includes our wa...

Re: Electric garage door

Thanks guys. That gives me two to have a look at - M P Shutters and S P Shutters. I don't think KPN Auto are in Udon now - maybe just Mukdahan.

Electric garage door

Getting close to putting a door on the garage. Does anyone have any prices with sizes for garage doors - thinking roller door with remote control, but would consider panel-lift, bifold uplift etc. Any ideas, prices and where to go would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, John

Work is progressing steadily downstairs. Here the coping for the internal garden and water feature (waterfall/pond/fountain) on the right, with the downstairs bathroom on the left. tn_IMG_20200118_162735.jpg Island bench in the kitchen/dining area - cupboards to the right, breakfast bar on the left,...

Re: John's budget build

Thanks for the kind words NongKhaiLee. Last weekend we had 3BB fibre optic wifi installed. We won't be living there fulltime for quite a while - but that is exactly the point, for the security system. Firstly, my wife told me that her sister in the village had installed a great fibre connection from...

Re: Fastest 'net installation in UT?

Have just signed up with 3BB for fibre to the house wifi connection - 200 mbps up/down for 590 B pm + VAT (total 632 B). This is for our new house in a village 25 kms from Udon. Quoted installation time of 5/6 days, but I won't be there until day 7. OK they say, see you then. Cable to be run 150 met...

Hi Parrot. I currently pay Dtac 650 baht/month for unlimited data. Interested to know what speed your wife's connection is limited at.

Re: John's budget build

I should expand on the morlam concert for those of you who are not familiar with the concept. The concert is a gift to the local community, most of whom don't get a formal invite but, on hearing the music, will come down to enjoy the performance and a modest amount of free drinks. You need a permit ...

Just a few happy snaps as we move along: Main bedroom ensuite is virtually complete. tn_IMG_20200105_153958.jpg Tiling the staircase. tn_IMG_20191229_164813.jpg The 1,000 litre town supply tank and pump. This will soon be supplemented by a 2,000 L rainwater tank. Toying with the idea of a semi-under...

Re: John's budget build

Yes, good point Maaka. And you are spot on as well RL Trader. In fact, these rooms do have cavity walls (as does most of the house) - masonry block externally and AAC block internally for the added insulation qualities. All of the electrics and plumbing come thru the cavity and are not visible. The ...

Re: John's budget build

Last weekend saw all of the power outlets fired up, and 90% of lighting in place. The tiler has been working during the week (in my absence), and should finish the last of the upstairs tiling this weekend. Plans for this weekend are some more electrics, and tiling the karaoke stage floor and the sta...

Re: John's budget build

Things have been really rocking along lately. Some work on the kitchen tiles. tn_IMG_20191214_145501.jpg This lot (tiles and adhesive) came to little over one tonne - straightened out the springs in the mighty Ford Ranger for about half an hour. tn_IMG_20191215_110456.jpg Air cons in the main bedroo...

Re: Sony's new ground-breaking technology

All said tongue in cheek of course. They refer to what is mostly termed PMPO (Peak Music Power Output), a vaguely defined term that most likely equates to what theoretically could be produced for two seconds before the internal power supply implodes. You won't find these type of wild claims on most ...

Ah, you are all too clever. IMG_20191214_130229.jpg IMG_20191214_151114.jpg It is indeed the karaoke stage. And from the look of your avatar BRD, you should fit right in there. Sony's new ground-breaking technology

Well, Sony has invented new technology that has the potential to save the world. As a matter of fact, this piece of equipment uses only 70 Watts to produce an output of 1 kW. This will save burning huge amounts of fossil fuels. Click on the image to make it larger and clearer.
