Unfortunately they all know that the public hospital system is free with the exception of medication, 30 baht for three months supply.

Enforcement of the law is the issue, so when they are finally told to enforce it by the Junta, the peasants revolt

Udon province averages 90 fatalities a month , soon to be over 100 for April

No sympathy, sorry.

BIB made a killing in just 2 days, giks happy for Sonkran

If the Thais, whose country this is, don't care or want to change the system albeit seat belts, the police, corruption or whatever why should I care? I just accept that it is the way it is.

Except when it affects your direct or indirect family.

" If only they had worn a seat belt "

Laws world wide are made to be obeyed the only exception is Thailand all the the police are interested in is easy tea money no hat no tax very little or no paper work required.

While I was out today I got abused by a Thai on a m/b with sidecar going the wrong way on the road of course I was blocking him while sitting at an intersection nothing I could do, no police seen any where on my travels today

Hy Guys sorry to be boring , The friday night Prime Minsters broadcast which is translated into English goe's like this ,
REF the new seat belt law's , FRONT SEAT BELTS TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES ,,,,,,,,,,,, BACK SEAT BELTS TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES, FAILURE TO COMPLY ( back seat ) WILL RESULT IN BEING GIVEN A WARNING ( written / verbal ?? how many before ya get the ticket ) he then went on to the back of pickup trucks , IT IS LEGAL TO SIT IN THE BACK OF PICKUP TRUCKS PROVIDED THAT THEY DON"T SIT ON THE SIDES , (my version , sitting on the back left and right wings also is not permitted and will be penalised , he did not quote number of persons ) he then went on about the responsibility of each person for their safety and to abide by the law, also slated the media for inaccurate reporting , ( i don't believe it's a new law as i was fined many years ago for no seat belt i think maybe it's a new part ref the rear seat belts )

After this anouncement last night i was surprised there was no extra , ie it being illegal to sell new vehicles without rear seatbelts , this would curtail all the crap that goe's on ,

18 years ago when I worked in Rayong our company was informed that it is illegal to carry any people in the back of any vehicle unless an approved cage was fitted like the ones all the Taxis/Baht buses are fitted with.

Just to rectify my post , i watched it again this morning , i could have sworn it said legal in the back of the truck , i check on 2 different TV stations , but this morning it says due to the stringent law's causing hardship for people they are allowing people to sit in the back of the truck , everything else i wrote is as is , sorry for the mislead ,or was it , and they changed it , i'm owd an my eyes aint wot they used ta be ,

Slightly off topic but the same Thai stupidity I was on the road yesterday and again today with traffic in total chaos yesterday Phosri Road today Nittayo Road at every set of lights no respect for red lights just jump them and then Que across the intersection blocking the traffic Songkran no wonder there are so many road deaths Thai mentality goes out the door at this time of the year.

The same off topic , Macca , i didn't realise they were ever in doors with their mentality , but just another point of observation ( or is it just me ) the Bankokians come up here ( the driving up here is bad enough) and push /bully their way through everything usually at high speed to add to the already mayhem .

I concur with your statement about Bankokians a week ago today coming along the ring road towards the main Khon Kaen road we encountered one of these idiots who over took us at great speed at about Thai Watsudo then continued lane hopping cutting off other cars then prior to the railway crossing he continued to pass crossing the double yellow lines into the oncoming traffic lanes when we had stop at the lights he was beside us so he gained nothing.

I did forget to mention yesterday no Police visible on Sunday which is the normal and the same yesterday must have been to hot so they stayed in the air cond. offices.
