Theres quite an age difference and the cash she is talking about is far too much it would set you up for some time.
There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies creeping in...not knowing cousins number, no mic etc etc... too many for my liking, and where is she saving money????
The ring (plain gold band cost me just over 5,000 Baht) I'm sorry to say but this lady sounds like "High Maintenance"
Be wary of building on the family land...remember you cannot own land here.
You seem to have spent little time together since meeting and getting to know her, you know the saying...............
Marry in Haste etc etc........I certainly wouldnt be rushing into anything and would not consider marrying on your next visit.
For me the cost is too high, we love with our hearts not our wallets. and remember the 'village wedding' is just a ceremony you will still need to marry at the Amphur Office for it to be recognised as legal. The 100,000 cost is for the village to eat and drink at your expense.
A good book worth reading and for the lady to read too is 'Thailand Fever' the book explains customs, cultures and the wants and needs of each others ways its written in Thai and English (same book)

if i was in your situation i would have bailed out at the first request of outrages sums of money, better take your time to look for somebody else as there are many choices, ( but as you know now , also many bad one ) so my advice to you is move on with your live while you still have money , don't even bother looking her up and make the situation more complicated ( meeting her , not following her( family) demands , making everybody angry etc....)
this is for me classic story of farang being conned ,as you must know internet is the best money business for many thai lady's, i know myself many ladies whom are receiving money from 3 or more farangs like this, poor fellows or should i say idiots....

I am sorry if my previous post seems a little light hearted but having read your post I assumed you were joking or trolling , so answered in a similar manner .If however you are asking a serious question may I suggest you look at the similarities between your situation and buying a car .First 2.5mill. You can buy a really upmarket sedan for that , even your lower figure of 1/2 million will get you a modest saloon . In both cases they will be brand new, no previous owners and without any mileage. Now if your looking at a 28year old model, no service history, god knows how many miles on the clock. How much is that worth? Think about it chum . Okay if you want secondhand there are many reputable dealers out there and you can get a bargain, but of course you must spend some time looking around .Thats what I think you are being told by the members .Good luck.

I asked about the wedding reception, she said I should pay the 100000 and it will be in the village, no hotel as that would cost far more and she wants us to save money. The gifts she said from the guests will be small as the people they are poor, and when given that would go to the family and maybe they might give us back some but it won’t be much. She wants a ring B40000 and I expect as normal some gold will have to be shown.

I have been supporting her these last few months and feel I am now being taken for more that a ride.
Anyway she is to meet me in BKK January and buy the 40000 ring for the wedding, then on to her town for a few days to marry.

Simon, just in case this is real:

A village wedding reception in the village could easily be had for 20K, even less, particularly if all the guests are poor!
A wedding ring if 2 "solung" (0.5 baht would cost about 10K). Even a very large 1 baht ring should be no more than about 20K baht.
Why should you be supporting her, if she has a career job as a teacher?
She can't love you if you've only spent a couple of weeks together, and similarly:
You don't really know her.

Be careful, if you plan to meet her in Bangkok and then pull the plug on her, - your heart/emotions may well succumb or have second thoughts and you may find it difficult to extricate yourself.
Her brothers may even come to escort you to the village!!

I would favour inventing some sort of crisis in the UK, and tell her something like you've been made redundant or lost of your job, and don't have any money until you find another job, or that you now only have a very small pension. Then see what happens, and if she still loves you, or will send you your plane fare!!

One other strange thing she has no mic on her computer, has a cam but she has to type and I talk, for the last 4 months. She could easily get it fixed I have sent her money but no still no sound, any clues as to why. Excellent advice from Papa , dont even bother meeting her , if you do its your pants that will be round yer ankles and getting stiffed by her and her family . If you part with one baht for this lass and her team of robbers then ur just a love struck tosspot . enuff said.
