Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Not sure of the thoroughness of the translation. The marriage/dependent lower threshold option states 'average income must not be less than 40,000 baht per month' whereas the retirement higher threshold option states 'income not less than 65,000 baht monthly' with no mention of averaging. If this is a correct translation, married/dependent option users have a bit more flexibility than the retirees? Pretty clear that in both instances, it has to be monthly so that buggers up some that prefer quarterly or otherwise irregular transfers.
Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Do I assume that merely having 65k+ thb every month is not enough they also want embassy certification still required!!
Is that the Thai embassy in London or the UK embassy in BKK?
If later then only 800k a/c balance will do for UK guys

Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
If your embassy still issues letters, you still have that option. However, since the British Embassy in Bangkok is one of four that don't do any form of income support paperwork any more, it's either:
A ) Proof of the lump sum(s) in your account with a Thai bank, appropriately seasoned (NO CHANGE)
OR
B ) Proof from your Thai bank of the required monthly minimums posted to your Thai bank account from overseas.

Do not Read this for lump sum requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Thanks LSLone Star wrote: ↑January 8, 2019, 11:37 am
I think sometimewoodworker has tried in vain to communicate this over and over again -- as have others. The method of using the Thai bank account amounts of 400,000 and 800,000 is still in force -- unless they change/eliminate it at some point (which I don't see happening).
I have
The new change is a change to ORDER OF THE IMMIGRATION BUREAU No. 138/2557 Subject: Supporting documents for Consideration of an Alien's Application for a Temporary Stay in the Kingdom of Thailand
Read that order with the changes.
The other relevant order is
ORDER OF THE IMMIGRATION BUREAU No. 327/2557 Subject: Criteria and Conditions for Consideration of an Alien's Application for a Temporary Stay in the Kingdom of Thailand.
There is no change published for that so it is still enforce

It is correct, no average for retirement, 12 monthly transfers for both, average for married or thai kid extensiontamada wrote: ↑January 8, 2019, 12:51 pmNot sure of the thoroughness of the translation. I take it when you retire you'll have to wait a year before you can live here as you won't be able to show 12 monthly payments through your accounts.then again you could retire and go to say Vietnam for a year but would end up staying there as it's cheaper and more relaxed with the visa requirements.
Re: Do not Read this for lump sum requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Simple reason. Pension is usually same amount every month. Salary or other incomes can be different each month. I will ask if 120 000 thb per every 3 months is ok. That gives avg per month 40 000 thb.sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑January 8, 2019, 2:43 pmIt is correct, no average for retirement, 12 monthly transfers for both, average for married or thai kid extensiontamada wrote: ↑January 8, 2019, 12:51 pmNot sure of the thoroughness of the translation. BTW. I have used Embassy letter, but asked already 3 years to bring also copies of bank statements.

So I guess those that are retired and on a fixed pension are sorted and it's just the ones who are either not (really) retired or self-funding their twilight years that need to be careful. I guess it's the bigger lump sum for me next year since I reckon Mrs tam would probably need around 400k worth of gold to get her involved in the marriage extension malarkey again after all these years of doing my own thing.
Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
Depending on which Imm office you use, spouses are still required (if you have one) for retirement extensions.Mrs tam would probably need around 400k worth of gold to get her involved in the marriage extension malarkey again

Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)
This may help some of you: When I turned 50 yrs in 2009, I used a Company I found online. I believe it was Siamlegal.com. I used a Credit Card and they charged me something like $700 and GUARENTEED I would get a 1 yr VISA. I had to put 800,000 into a Thai bank account, which I did on another visit here. They did all the documentation, sent all to me, to sign everything, and send papers back to them and Documents to send to government Agencies. I got my 1 yr VISA, arrived in Thailand , then got an Email from them "reminding" me to not forget to do my Visa Runs. I didn't know anything about Visa Runs and was living in Phuket then. I went to the Immigration office and got talking to a nice UK man who was a Immigration Volunteer. he told me , don't worry about it, you got the 800,000 in the bank, just change it to a Retirement Vise, then you don't do Visa Runs, you report every 90 days. AND he told me, DON'T hire a lawyer , pick up the forms here, fill them out, bring them back to me to look over , then submit them. he even told me which Immigration officers to stay away from, because they hated Falongs. Application Fee was about 1900tb All went well. Now i am on Marriage visa (only 400,000tb)

You may need to get back to your source, Jumbo.747man wrote: ↑January 7, 2019, 4:49 pmNOT From what I've just been Told.....She is now Surplus to requirements.. ie: She's been TOLD She cannot do,Anymore...Bandung_Dero wrote: ↑January 7, 2019, 5:35 amNot for "Ms Udon's Dodgy Visa Service" --- She is about to see her business double +.
I was having a beer today with a guy who had just got back from her office, and he showed me the Immigration slip from the 90 day report he had done there (in her office), complete with Chonburi details, and an "official" Immigration stamp.
She also told him as far as she was concerned, it was business as usual.
Coincidentally, another guy present said he had spoken to his Pattaya based agent, and they also said nothing had changed.
Interesting times ahead. I guess with the amount of illicit money tied up in these dodgy extensions, Buddha only knows what is going to happen.

I spoke to a friend yesterday about 747's rumour (and it is your rumour as you are passing it on). He immediately called Ms Udon who categorically assured him that nothing has changed and it is business as usual.

She told me business as usual, but with a few changes. 20k fee, 5 days for extension, open account at K bank with 10k.

No that isn't the case as detailed on page 1 going on to page 2. In the first year of retirement (say October) payments starting in November are accepted so can be less than 12. In year 2 requirements are the full 12.Marcosteffano wrote: ↑January 8, 2019, 3:55 pmI take it when you retire you'll have to wait a year before you can live here as you won't be able to show 12 monthly payments through your accounts.
