Thailand to launch new 10 year multiple entry visa for over 50s
Re: 10 Year Visa
Is it just me, my eye problems, or is this guy talking really talking some sort of twilight zone encripted language?
"would you stand there YELLING in immigration"...is PEANUTS in our personal economies", "I wouldnt give a monkey mate." (???), and " why waste energy let that "eat into you"....??
Sounds like "hold that anger inside, let it eat at you until you develope an ulser.
Just my thoughts

Re: 10 Year Visa
Nope, sorry, I've read my posts twice now & have certainly not suggested anywhere I'd stand there YELLING in Immo. I'd like to think after years dealing with bureaucratic jobsworths that I don't lose my temper. Even more so in LOS because of the "face" nonsense.Liam Dale wrote:So.. would you stand there YELLING in immigration.. and LOSE your app.. it is PEANUTS in our personal economies.. as I said (sort of).. if they said.. 5k baht for an annual visa.. personally Nigglyb.. I wouldnt give a monkey mate.. pedantics.. why waste energy let that "eat into you".. really fella.. pay 3.1k.. and go visit Vince wife cafe for a really good yum yum.. and then home for a year.. :-0
Whether it's peanuts in our economy is irrelevant. There are prices for everything & like I said, I don't mind dropping tips when appropriate but to be charged treble is laughable but, hey, live & live, each to their own etc.
"Eat into me" is just a figure of speech, I'd wander over to NACC without a care in the world & bring the blatant extortion to their attention, then go back to continue the application & then go eat, maybe trying Vince's.
I've got a feeling in my water from previous visits to various official offices that just by taking the officers details would be enough to snap them to their senses before it got anywhere near a complaint
May the bridges I burn light the path in front of me
Re: 10 Year Visa
Liam, the Police visit to your home is only for the first application, no visits for renewals. I took my witness again this year, same guy i always take, no interviews for him after the first application, now he just signs in front of the imm officer and sits back down to watch TV..
Re: 10 Year Visa
Yarr.. so it seems.. no police call.. Cheers for that.. Cross wires Niggly.. I watched a dude doing his nuts verbally while we were there protesting SOMETHING.. with a bedraggled bar girl pal.. and others trying to translate.. no reflection on you fella.. didnt write it up well enough.. still say.. if they said 5k for an annual visa.. I wouldnt give a monkey.. better than going to Laos 4 times a year. 3.1k.. it is at least consistent for us.. and next year we may well give the village elder woman 500 baht to pootle along. Lessons learnt.. I could grizzle about my 100 baht change failure.. but better things to do!Chriss wrote:Liam, the Police visit to your home is only for the first application, no visits for renewals. Re: 10 Year Visa
Just back from Immigration. Took 1 hour. Although had letter from bank, bank book wasn't up to date. Wife went back to bank who called immigration and all was fixed. No tips asked for and very good service. So easy!!
Sorry might be wrong thread and not related to the 10 year visa.

Re: 10 Year Visa
Was that a marriage extension Jimmy? If so.. did you get asked for a witness that you were a real person.. or did visa only cost 1,900 baht? I'm hearing various criteria..Wee Jimmy wrote:Just back from Immigration. Took 1 hour. Although had letter from bank, bank book wasn't up to date. Retirement requires 800,000 in bank or 65,000 monthly or combination of both to = 800,000Liam Dale wrote:Ok. Marriage requires 400,000 in bank or 40,000 monthly no combination allowed.
If using monthly figures an Embassy letter is required.
Re: 10 Year Visa
Baht 800,000 in bank as this saves having to pay British Embassy in BKK to verify pension documents.
It's the easiest way.

Thailand to launch new 10 year multiple entry visa for over 50s
BANGKOK:-- Foreigners in Thailand will soon be able to apply for a 10 year visa.
First proposed in November 2016 as a way to promote Thailand as a medical and wellness hub, Thaivisa understands the 10 year visa was this week formally approved by the Prime Minister.
The new Non O X visa will be available to anyone who is over 50 years of age and from one of the 14 countries listed below.
Applicants will need to have a minimum 3 million baht in a Thai bank account, or a combination of 1.8 million baht in the bank and income not less than 1.2 million baht.
The 3 million baht must be kept in the bank as a deposit for a period of one year but can be reduced to 1.5 million under certain conditions.
Criminal background checks are required on all applicants, who must also have valid medical insurance from a Thai insurance company for the duration of the visa.
Foreigners are not permitted to work while staying in Thailand on the visa and 90 day reports are still required.
The visa will cost 10,000 baht and will be valid for 5 years, before being renewed for a further 5 years.
The new Non O X visa will be available from 11 August, with an official announcement expected imminently.
The Non O X visa does not replace the current annual retirement extension.

Old bs story.the bright spark who came up with that idea is probably working in a factory now.why would you need medical insurance when you've got 3 million in the bank.wasting my time even thinking about this crap.

No good to me, as I already have International heath insurance and not topping up locally
Also a few challenges not mentioned
must show the 3 million in the bank every 90 days if reporting ??
What if you keep departing and returning , getting a new 90 days at Swampy ??
So you could not go near an immigration office for 5 years theoretically and just show the 3 M again

Yeah tie up 3 million baht for 10 years in a bank that in a few years time won't be government covered in case of collapse.inflation at over 3% and only getting 1% interest,so in theory your money is depreciating 60,000 per year.keep having to do the 90 days reporting, also having to pay extortionate insurance premiums and 10,000b kick off fee.sounds a cracking idea.i can see the queues going all the way around the block at the immo office on Monday.seriously who ever employs these people to think up these schemes.ill stick to the 800,000b,1,900b a year,90 day reporting thanks and if they don't like it I'll sack all the people working for me and fook off to Vietnam where I'm probably more welcome.mongs.

When you do a Multiple entry and are returning you already have you visa and at Swampy you will receive a New entry card From that date the 90 days start. I do not have to prove I have 800,000 in the bank each time I return
Its also states that the 3Million is on application for he visa and after 1 year can be reduced to 1.5Million as to what the conditions are I don't know
All in all I will also stay the way I am at present

DD
I have never received a new Entry Card when returning to Thailand landing in Swampy.
Only a new stamp, showing the expiry date of the visa.

Re: Thailand to launch new 10 year multiple entry visa for over 50s
Doing some maths on this.you must have 3mb in the bank, well it ok saying it only for one year and you must prove you have spent 1.5mb in Thailand after that.in other words like me now I keep 800,000b permenantly in the bank.inflation 3% and banks only paying 1 % so your 3mb will depreciate at 60,000b a year x 10 years 600,000b.then there's the medical insurance.i read someone was paying $408 a month or around 14,000b a month.x that by 10 years 1,680,000baht plus the 600,000b 2.280,000b also two 10,000b applications comes to 2,300,000 baht over 10 years.....just a plain way of milking the farang.who in their right mind is going to take this SPECIAL OFFER up is beyond me.oh and don't forget the 90 day reporting too.then there might be some small print that once you've had this 10 year visa you can't revert to the yearly retirement visa because your too old to get any medical insurance.absolute waste of time in my eyes.the thing is a s we'll all the them at the top think they are doing the farang a right favour and deal of the century.

Absolutely correct. There is no benefit to this.Marcosteffano wrote:Doing some maths on this.you must have 3mb in the bank, well it ok saying it only for one year and you must prove you have spent 1.5mb in Thailand after that.in other words like me now I keep 800,000b permenantly in the bank.inflation 3% and banks only paying 1 % so your 3mb will depreciate at 60,000b a year x 10 years 600,000b.then there's the medical insurance.i read someone was paying $408 a month or around 14,000b a month.x that by 10 years 1,680,000baht plus the 600,000b 2.280,000b also two 10,000b applications comes to 2,300,000 baht over 10 years.....just a plain way of milking the farang.who in their right mind is going to take this SPECIAL OFFER up is beyond me.oh and don't forget the 90 day reporting too.then there might be some small print that once you've had this 10 year visa you can't revert to the yearly retirement visa because your too old to get any medical insurance.absolute waste of time in my eyes.the thing is a s we'll all the them at the top think they are doing the farang a right favour and deal of the century.
