I have an engagement ceremony to attend first on the 21st. Mine

Would be nice to celebrate with a few friends in the evening.

That is assuming GF does not have anything else arranged that I do not know about.

Seems a reasonable request Gary! Can't see it being a problem :)

I will not be arriving in time to make the meeting on Dec. 3, any chance in moving it forward a week or so. If not, I will be at the Jan. meeting. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you Udon residents. Maybe in-between the Dec.-Jan. meetings?

Not much chance there I am afraid - because then it means the meeting is the day after tomorrow. Sorry but it takes a few days to get this lot geared up and theres no way that they will be organised for a meet in 2 days time.

As it stands - the scheduled meeting is on the 3rd Dec - however most of the regulars are always open to an additional meet and if you ask on here I am sure people will be only too pleased to come and meet up for a chat

Still waiting for a starting place for the 3rd !

EDIT EDIT EDIT

Just re-read your post and I think you mean put the meeting BACK a week not forward? meaning it would be on Sat 10th December?

Democracy rules here and lets see if anyone has any objections either way ?

Yes, you are right. Sorry. I never seem to get that correct. December 10 would work for me. Thanks.

So far there has been one reply as to where to hold Decembers meet -Thanks Valentine.

Assuming that nobody else cares or will not be attending (due to the lack of response) how do you feel Val about moving the Decembers meet BACK a week to the 10th December?

It doesn't bother me either way - a beer is a beer no matter what day!
I can cope with the 10th, can you?

All those in favour say 'aye' LOL

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul, I hope the lack of response doesn't indicate a lack of interest, just when we were all starting to relax in each others company and having really good get togethers.Yes the 10th is okay for me. I think I can contain my excitement another week!!!

Paul, just putting new date in diary and noticed its one of those alchohol forbidden holidays, Constitution day 10th December. All bars closed.

Ha ha ha
Its bad enough hiding the cigarettes, the (soon to be) alcohol, stopping beer sales at 12.00 - now they are closing bars completely too !!!!

Ho hum !!!

So 2 options then ?
either keep it on Saturday December 3rd or....
'adjust it' to Friday the 9th when hopefully more people can attend (and its still ok for those of us who have to work - being a weekend the following day)

Again - I dont mind either way. Both days are good for me!

I am not sure the bars will close, but its a reasonable assumption being alchohol sales are forbidden. Although in Pattaya they have been known to serve whiskey in teacups!! Maybe ask the chosen bar what they are going to do before changing date. Don't worry its a long holiday weekend anyway, have monday off because the 10th is saturday.

Sat 3rd December ok for me - suppose Mojo as good as anywhere to start the evening - it's fairly central for anyone on a stopover at Charoensi Grand, Irish Clock, Top Mansion, City Lodge or Charoen.

Unfortunately anything much later than the 3rd will see me heading to the frozen north for Christmas & New Year.

have to agree with val, that little strip does nothing for me either, especially if playing music loud. had hard time conversing with max and paul, who were sitting right next to me, for the short time i was there.

mojo's is always a good place to start, didn't know they were going ladyboy on us though, but nice sitting outside watching life go by and no intrusive noise, easy to converse. or other quiet beer venue is fine with me.

as far as date, was looking forward to the 3rd, but can also put off till the 9th, as it appears the 10th is out. no problem, december being one of those 5 saturday months, so not squeezing meetings in too close, like that would be a problem.

congrats galee, will try to attend any date you pick for a little celebration of the event.

point of interest, was at my favorite mexican place, taco place, place was packed for thanksgiving, had many turkey offerings w/apple pie and ice cream. well, anyway, point is, over heard part of conversation, about monthly meetings at table next to mine, not sure if us, but don't know who else has them, and heard the attendees described as 'sounds like a bunch of drunks', but did my best buddhist or christian thing, non confrontation or love thy enemies, and didn't say anything, as i wasn't sure who they were talking about and wasn't in the mood to interupt my pleasant day with the little one. but had to chuckle if about us, that book cover judgement thing, especially if reading post of the evening events after the fact, never thought we came off as a bunch of drunks, lol. at least until all the important info and friendly banter and razzing has been taken care off, then in the wee hours of the morning, a bit buzzed, but always well behaved and not offensive to other, that i am aware of. oh well, glad those judgemental types don't attend, doubt if they could take a little razzing if that self centered. more fun for us.

I didn't look at the calendar when I made my request. Looks like the 3rd will work for most. I will be in Udon for a few months beginning around Dec. 8 or 9, and look forward to meeting some Udon residents. Maybe in addition to the regular December meeting, we can have a "special" pre-holiday meeting around the middle of the month?
How quick things can change. I had dinner at Mojo's on November 5, I thought that the girls were girls and stunners at that. And, I live in Pattaya/Jomtien, the Katoey capital of S.E. Asia. I'm just assuming there is only one Mojo's in Udon.

How about the big beer garden at the night market on whatever night is chosen.

That's a great idea wokka, after all it doesn't have to be a Western establishment. Plenty of young eye candy about and dirt cheap beer too .

If I'm in Udon and in the area I'll drop by and say hi.

Not being homophobic personally I don't care what is between their legs, as long as the service is good and the staff pleasant. My vote stays for Mojo's whatever date is chosen.

The service is always pretty good at Mojo's and it is very pleasent sitting outside watching the world go by. I haven't been for ages so I can't comment on the latest editions to the staff, it doesn't really bother me too but not my cup of tea.

OK - seems like popular opinion is to keep the December meet as scheduled on the 3rd (thats a Saturday) and is in 4 days time.

Two places mentioned to start - either the beer garden at the night market or Mojo's.

Mojo's small Chang is 60 baht
Night Market large Chang is 35 baht

December 3rd then:
How about if we meet initially at the market and have a few large beers and then wander down to mojos a little later 10pm (ish) because theres not much happens before that anyway and the market will slow down not long after that too.
That way we get to please all the people and we are in staggering distance of other places when Mojo gets sick of us :)

Wow - have we really reached to dizzy heights of local gossip now ? Makes that lone March meeting seem a lifetime ago LOL - look how far we have come :)
