Val,The ONLY Way you can avoid the PICK-UP Trip is for have someone you know to pick it up,But you have to give them the authourization form that VFS Have given you on your'e 1st Trip, Signed by yourself....I Did the 2 Trips about 6 Months ago for mine,But also picked a Mates up on my 2nd trip ( Saved Him Going )

Truebrit.
I remember seeing the post & someone did it with no problems.
They said the agency was on the ground floor of the Trendy building.
They may have moved as it was about 2 years ago.
When you arrive at the Trendy building you have to report to the Reception.
Ask them about the Agency & where they are situated.
They do speak English at the reception.

No it is not.
The one which charges 5000 baht is in Pattaya.
The one which was in an earlier post is in the Trendy Building & had a Thai name.

They charged 500 baht to pick up your passport & send it to you EMS.
Someone posted about it on Udon Map .
They used them & got their passport back with no problem.
They even posted their phone number but I can not find the post.
This was about 2 years ago.

Well went yesterday, a pretty painless experience all over and done with in 15 minutes. Security at all points was pretty strict, more like the airport, so don't take any big bags with you, other than that every one was not only pleasant but unlike the old embassy experience, pretty clued up and polite.Waiting for an email to pick it up when ready, not more than four weeks , they said .Now the definitive answer on that. Anyone can collect on your behalf, just need a letter of permission signed by you, the receipt they gave you on application and , he's the biggie, your old passport. Which of course means if you engage the services of an agent of any sort , you have to leave your current passport with them, in the meantime meaning you obviously don't have it .Which I am not prepared to do and wouldn't advise anyone else to either .So it's back to Bangkok again soon , maybe I will just let the wife go alone this time if I can persuade her to stay out of the malls .

Just to finalise this topic . Got a note on my phone from DHS to say they are delivering my new passport to Trendy, just before Songkran and an email confirming it's arrival from HM passport office just after, so wife went down armed with old passport, letter of authorisation , signed by me and her Id card, to pick it up, after making an appointment to do so .No hassle what so ever .All done and dusted within three weeks, including an extra week delay over the Thai holiday .
Now to get immi to swap my visa, fingers crossed .
