Say no More.
Was never in doubt.
England did come back and well done to them for making a few Aussie doubting supporters nervous.
The 2 fat bowlers di well to finish them off.
Some thought the aussie batting in the 2nd dig was our downfall and let England get a sniff, but forgot that we do have a potent bowling attack who are more than capable of taking 20 wickets a game.

Cheers David.goodison wrote: ↑December 6, 2017, 7:42 amThanks to one of the links from this thread I am now a member of the Australian Cricket Fraternity. I blame a certain teacher from Melbourne whom, my brother believes, should walk around Udon Thani when he's here, with a health warning sign around his neck claiming: "Drinking with this man is Hazardous to your Health." Ron says Hello Mark. Think I'm looking forward to today's play. However during my visits to Adelaide it always reminded me of Manchester, never stopped raining and the locals? spoke with Mancunian accents. Maybe a rain dance is the order of the day!
Unfortunately I was still at work when today's action occurred and by the time I'd driven home it was down to the press conferences. But as I am a member of the same cricket family/fraternity as me old mate I'll be able to watch the replay at my leisure. Please say g'day to Ron when you next speak and let him know that I have mellowed on the Booze since I've slipped into middle age and given the sangsom away. But I'll raise a glass to you both when I have a few over the cricket club tomorrow evening.
So it's off to Perth with the 5 zip still on the radar. Happy Days

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
A bit of an uncalled for remark there,Barney ! I know Hazelwood is a bit stocky but Starc is tall and relatively slim and don't forget those two boys bowled you to victory today !
As for England.....well,Australia aren't a great team but how many English players would get into their side ? Root,Anderson (as a 4th fast bowler),maybe Bairstow but that's about it......can see it finishing up 5-0 now.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Ben Dukket. Never heard of him. What a absolutely shocking thing to do. Tipping out a drink, no matter where it lands. Huge penalty is truly needed and at minimum a shout for the entire bar.stattointhailand wrote:What's that saying .......... WHEN IN ROME ........

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
Your'e kidding yourself Statts - no Australian would commit such an offence. Wasting a drink should result in a flogging with the cat-o'-nine-tails. Where did you get this bogan touring squad?
Kebab anyone???

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
England are currently playing yet another Cricket Australia XI in Perth.....what happened to the days when they played the State sides like Victoria,NSW etc.....that,plus England are playing half a dozen of their Lions squad currently touring Australia.
Two players out to impress the selectors for the next Test,Gary Ballance and Ben Foakes only scored 1 and 2 respectively
However, fast bowler,Tom Curran made 77 not out.....maybe they should play him at no.3 and be an extra bowler ?
Lions opener,Keaton Jennings, made 80 but I cant see him coming into Test contention.
England 314-8 dec
Cricket Australia XI 62-1
Ben Duckett.....what a waste of a can of Victoria Bitter.....although in his defence he said it was undrinkable !

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
Heard on the ABC today that the boy tipped a pint of beer over Jimmy Anderson's ugly mug because Jimmy was sprouting his usual crap and gobbing off whilst on the turps. Well done young man. Put him straight in the team.stattointhailand wrote: ↑December 9, 2017, 4:48 pmWhat's that saying .......... WHEN IN ROME ........

I'm taking it nobody fancies a kebab then?
Oh an agree with you Zid on the tour games issue. The 4 day games against the full state sides were both great for the touring side to get in some tough cricket between tests and also gave the local fist class shield players a chance to match it with the best. I remember going to a Victoria v West Indies game years ago when all the test starts played and it was brilliant. Same traditions shoud be respected.

Indeed so,Barney, hasnt she got lovely lips......
Latest : Cricket Australia XI 204-4 (Dean 100) but Tom Curran 3-28 to add to his 77 not out.....who needs Ben Stokes ?

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
This pretty meaningless game turned into a bit of a thrash yesterday and ended in a draw.
England 314-8 dec and 130-3 dec (20 overs)
Cricket Australia XI 151-4 dec and 269-8 (36.5 overs)
Englands two spinners took a bit of a hammering so I doubt if either will be considered for the Tests
Leach 9.5-0-104-4.......went for 10.58 per over
Crane 9-0-69-1....went for 7.67 per over

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
England 91-2 at lunch with Stoneman 48 not out......Cook out for 7 and Vince 25.
When are England going to get a decent opening partner for Stoneman ?
They might as well have tried the young lad Curran who made 77 not out and took 3-28 and 2-28 against Cricket Australia...neither Cook nor Vince can bowl !

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
Great days cricket for the visitors with Malan and Bairstow showing a fair bit of ticker and ability on the lively WACA track. Unusual to see Australia drop two regulation slips catches but probably a consequence of changing the team as Handscombe has very safe hands. No turn and no threat from Lyon. With two Marshes in the Aussie side the poms must be quietly confident of getting a test back.

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
Yes,its not very often we have been able to say "advantage England" in this series so far.
After slumping to 131-4 it looked like England were heading for their usual total of around 200 all out but a magnificent unbroken stand of 174 between Malan and Bairstow has given England the edge.
Don't undo all the good work in the first 2 overs tomorrow,OK !
England 305-4 (Malan 110* Bairstow 75*) batsmen out Cook 7 Vince 25,Root 20 and Stoneman 56.

"Don't undo all the good work in the first 2 overs tomorrow,OK !"
!'d have slept a lot easier if you had suggested not undoing the good work in the first session tomorrow ...... I've now got visions of "S*ds law" prevailing and the triple wicket maiden coming in the THIRD over

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
Once we finish them off today I think we may declare at 500 and put the perennial party boys back in.
Cook will never open his gob in the bar bar again by declaring, "The drinks are on me"
But throwing the seriousness including the poms spot fixing corruption betting issues out the window the poms have done well and the series is alive and kicking.

Re: 2017 Ashes Tour
If Malan & Bairstow can put on neary 200 on this strip ...... what chance do England's bowlers have of getting Smith out? ...... that's assuming the Aussies don't declare BEFORE he gets to the wicket
Perhaps England should "Engineer" a collapse this morning and get the Aussies worrying that there is something in the pitch for the bowlers
