Yes, it is clearly noted, but I didn't feel like reading through two pages of self promotion. A few of the sellers in CM claim it is the Irish version, but you're right again, bar owners lie. I drink the Irish ones for 42 THB, 325 ml bottles, when I am in the States (occasionally), so 160 for Halal Guiness doesn't get me as excited as it may those from the higher sin-tax nanny states. Good luck though, and it is good to see at least one place with an alcohol promotion.

A great company. Jim Cramer on MadMoney talks about it regularly. They did drop the ball when they sold Bushmills for a mere 20 million or so, about 20 years ago. Irish Whiskey has been the fastest growing segment of the spirit business for years. I have seen Irish folks drinking Jack Daniels....can't believe it..as an AMerican I would rather have a Jameson or Bushmills any day of the week, or hour of the day. They have been exporting Guiness to the US since before it was the US.

AGREE ..im not a spirit drinker and rarely partake BUT when i do its Jameson for me no mixer just a single ice cube .. a few guys of Irish heritage who frequent the Tap all mention Bushmills ... i cannot comment as never a drop has passed my lips .

I have been told that the Protestants prefer Bushmills, and the Catholics Jameson. I think both are excellent. But, when Bushmills was 16 per liter at Duty Free US, and Jameson was 20 ....it was a very easy choice. I did notice the Tesco Expresses started selling 70 cl Jameson within the last year...1099 THB. Liquor is high, here, IMO. Part of the move to make BKK like KL or Sing...heaven forbid!

Question, Drunk Monk, what temp do you serve your Guiness at? Do you use chilled glasses at all? Did you take the manufacturers recs or adjust for the heat? I have noticed a lot of folks, who were raised on "cellar temp," have a tough time navigating cold beer. The Mexicans do quite well in that department. Of course, there has only been refrigeration in Thailand for 82 years...they'll figure it out sooner or later.

There can be issues when serving draft ale or stout in this climate, we do follow the guidelines advised by the manufacturer and have all the correct nitro co2 mix gas , regulators etc , the kegs are stored in a 24/7 AC environment prior to going on the tap which is also in AC NOT OUTDOOR, it goes thru a CWP 40k flash chiller and the glasses are also chilled ,,, 4 kegs in to the 160 pint promo and no negative comments only the sound of smacking lips and sighs of enjoyment ...
Suffice to say i take my quality control duties very seriously and will be checking the temperature of the Guinness forthwith to get a accurate figure to report back.

Tap car park got a good work out last night , very busy with a pre booked birthday and bank manager promotion celebration taking up most of the restaurant ...also several guys dropping in to the riff raff zone to watch the Scunny game live on the telly (could of been the Guinness promo really) ...even a local well known Leeds Utd fan appeared to see how the game should be played you know who you are !!!

ANOTHER KEG of BLACK GOLD gone thats 5 since the GUINNESS 160 PER PINT PROMO began , and i can confirm after a few test pints it is at the perfect temperature

Seems like as well as the new cleaner being very popular the live sport in the riff raff public bar is also proving to be a hit so the with all the Sky channels available its possible to get whatever takes your fancy sports wise.

For now THE TAP opening times remain the same ..but under review by the new owners as quite a few early doors patrons are turning up.

DM is feeling a tadge ruff this fine morning after a few too many glasses of the black stuff ...

Excellent evening with lots of expat and Thai regulars as well as some newbies .. most of which were on the Guinness promo.. one patron commented how cold the Guinness is served colder than the first few kegs this was well spotted as we had decided to go with the extra chilling setting on the flash chiller on the last 2 kegs to see which customers prefered , must say the extra cold in a chilled glass hit the spot IMO... twas also pointed out by a wise Irish gent who drops in every week that in Ireland most pubs that serve Guinness have 2 bar fonts , one normal another extra chilled.

Glad it is working out for you, and that is surely a crowd pleaser, but I found a place doing 60 THB large Leos, and she puts them in a bucket of ice for free. My perspective is that I don't spend 6.70 USD for a pint, at home, where average wages are 10 times higher. I do enjoy a 12 pack of small bottles for under 500 THB, occasionally.

To each their own. I don't like Thai beers. They're garbage.

I'll take a high priced bit of liquor and high quality cigars anytime they can be had.

My perspective is that if I want to drink something, it won't be two dollar garbage beer from whatever country I happen to be in. But either their finest if they have it, or a fine import if not. Same goes for food, lodging, accommodation, etc.

I won't drink $2 beer from anywhere. And I probably wouldn't go on "her" thread and talk about how I get much comparatively better service or pricing "somewhere else". In the world of trolling it's called "Price Nitpicking" and / or "Faux Consumer Advocacy".

Like coming on a Villa Market thread to politely note in passing that buying groceries from 7-11 is somehow more suitable, due to various "international import / export & at-home wage calculations". Or disparaging after-import costs of drinking a few Bowmore Whiskys because Sang Som is so much more affordable.
