And what about the Income Letter ( from embassies) approach ? Did anyone recently go that route ? Is it an available option ?

No it wasn't mentioned by the guy with the bad neck who does the 90 day reporting and he is usually really good and I would have expected him to mention it if it was law but he didn't so my guess is it's just another piece of horse$hit coming out of another forum, BUT, I will read the government website nearer the time and make sure as indeed should everyone, I will post again on this matter in 90 days.
Totally agree regarding the guy with the bad neck who does the 90 day reporting. He has always been very helpful and proactive with his information and help.I have often witnessed him assist others whilst waiting in line.

Today I went to extend my retirement visa which probably made me one of the first to apply under the new rules. The process all ran like a well oiled machine, the new immigration officer pretty much controlled how everything worked and I've never been in and out so quickly when extending.
Which officer is he/she, Vince? Which desk?

If you are from one of the 4 under and have the letter it is valid for 6 months.

If you are not British, American, Australian or Danish there is no change.

I seem to think his number was 410084 named Proewchai or similar, tall slim chap, quite young and he sat pretty square in the middle of the seating area calling people over as they arrived, I liked the previous boss he was a very nice guy but this one is really friendly and ultra efficient, my experience this time was the best ever, extension and 90 day report in under 30 minutes, exceptional.

If going the 800,000 baht route, since march 1st you have to leave the money in the bank for 3 months, and maintain 400,000 for the following 6 months (that is from the official notice). Only applies from your next extension. The big question mark is how it will be policed. Some offices may not bother. Consensus is that they will check at your next extension that the amount has not fallen below the allowed amount, if so off to Laos and start again .....

Looking for an "official" answer. Under the new retirement rules, transferring money monthly in to a Thai bank.
Can it be into an existing joint account, or do I have to open a new account in my name only?

I'd be interested in seeing the official notice because I went through the immigration website and couldn't find it, do you have a link?

The clue to the link and official notice, both Thai and English, is in my last post which you considered to be "Horse nonsense"!

Just for fun I tried the link https://thaivisavientiane.com/ to see how it worked. Well it did not work for me. When going to this page you are met with a Big button for making an appointment, Get your Appointment,
Anytime, Anywhere!
and absolute nothing works, you just get the 404-page! I snooped around in the menus and it seems that maybe you have to register yourself first but I found no place to register and there was no place to log in or anything like that.

Has anyone managed to make an appointment? Could you pls inform us how to do it.
