Isn't 6000 baht very little money for an abortion? Maybe a goverment hospital will not charge more. But still think it's cheap.

Its a pretty nasty subject and im not casting dispersions on you Kjellsnell ..... but are you sure abortions are illegal in Thailand , there are hundreds of clinics throughout the country surely all of them canrt be setup and running illegally , also i know a girl who had and abortion in Pattaya International hospital , no special circumstances only that she didnt want a child and the pregnacy was an accident , how can a place like an intenational hospital get away with it if it is actually illegal.

I wouldnt know the laws in the UK or Europe or the USA ref abortion , i hate the thought of it tho ,,,,,, very sad for whatever reason and i dont wanna get into a right n wrong debate just trying to clarify the law .

This is a god question Pienmash and maybe some other can sort this out in the best way but by the Thai law it is illegal!

As i said......the "normal way" tyo get a quick and sheep abortion is the illegal way. I know there are hundreds of them and i can point out at least ten in Udon in a minute ore two......but they are illegal all of them.....sometimes they close down.......and after some time....open again. Thats the same story like the pharmacys selling drugs whitout prescribtion.......they can do it for a year or two if they pay money for the ........then somebody feels they not have a piece of the cake.........come in closing down the pharmacy. Thats is allso whats happen whit the abortionclionics in Thailand. It is not long time ago they fiend ower 200 childbodys in a tempel in BKK.......They all come from clinics like this!

I would usualy say thanks Frazeee ,,,, but the last paragraph of that is very disturbing . How many times in the years i have lived in los i have heard people say life is cheap in Thailand and i guess that confirms that , whatever happened to sex education and the use of the numerous contraceptive methods , condoms , the pill anything is better than killing an unborn child because of child spacing and / or limit family size . WTF guys this is third world African bush style ethics .

Yes a short while ago all illegal clinics were closed down all over Thailand. There is now only one hospital legally carrying out abortions ,in Bangkok. So TIT. You go to any doctors clinic . You pay some money, they give you a letter that gives the reason why you qualify for a legal abortion, then off you go to Bangkok.The hospital charge is 10k plus whatever you paid for the letter, plus travel to Bangkok. Total about 20k . Don't ask me what clinic. Not all will do it but they will certainly know who does and I believe they get commission on the recommendation 5555

So if she says 6K and is actually pregnant,it sounds like she knows a ''practitioner'' of abortions.Unless you are considering keeping the child,send the money,you owe it anyway and what she does is her business.
Asking everyones advice about what to,seems to me,is just a way to avoid any and all responsibility for the relationship.pregnant or not!

In this case of Ken n Barbie i still do think its a scam , i also think Ken should give the lass the 6k for " services " rendered during his visit , my opinion on this has never changed . The thread went onto the topic of abortion and the Thai law ref this and was not aimed at this case but all the rights n wrongs that surround this rather unsavoury subject . I brought up the topic of sex education or the lack of it and the other non discript reasons for rural Thais seeking an abortion . IMO its obvious that A COMBINATION OF poor education and the non use of contraceptive methods along with a dissreguard for the killing an unborn child are the reasons the ILLEGALL ABORTION business thrives in Thailand. Just another form of coruption when a hospital writes aletter stating an abortion is required when it isnt then charging 10k to do it ,,, what ever happened to the ethics that doctors are supposed to have , they are as bent as a Pattaya taxi driver ,,,, ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY as is the norm in LOS.

Chathima sounds spot on to me. Send/give the 3000 baht, as you leave the country, telling her that's all you have left, and you hope it will be enough. Tell her you've just lost your job in your home country, where you are now returning. Then throw your Thai SIM away, change your email address, and don't return.

Chanthima13 I'm surprised at you this young lady spent an entire month with the Op and asked for nothing !! Now all she wants is Bt6000 and people see it as a scam. At Bt1000 a day she could have asked it would seem the Op received a Bt24000 discount. That's a BARGAIN in my book. If she's a scammer, she's a bad one

I am already back in Blighty, came home on the 6th. I didn't spend the whole month in Thailand with her, 5 days at the start of my trip and then 5 days when I came back to Udon to try and help her sort out all the crap she was going through with being homeless, bikeless, potentially jobless etc.

I've told her I can Western Union the funds but I need a week or so (before I get paid UK), she seems in a rush that it needs to get sorted asap ("but im cant wait for u i dont want more for pregnant.very difficult and very expensive and may be will have problem with my body,i dont want..")
