10th July 2015 Udon Golf Ubolrat Friday Results.
Slightly cooler and less humid conditions at Ubolrat Dam Course this morning. The rain had an effect with the course probably taking some of the run that had been possible the previous week.
A determined Tony Jones recovered from what could have been a disastrous start to record 34 points for the win.Self imposed pressure the last 4 holes threatened to rob him of his chances but he held strong for 6/2 points on the 18th.
Trevor Edge light heartedly suggested Tony had been protecting his handicap the last 4 holes.

Paul Samme 33 points pipped Graham Firth on countback to finish 2nd.
Tony Jones and Trevor Edge won the 2 Closest to the pin par 3 holes, both just narrowly over Paul Samme.
Other Scores; Chuck Mc Cormick 30,Denni Price 29,Trevor Edge 27,Terry Aston & Peter Hellery both disappointing 25 points.

13th July 2015 Udon Golf Society Results.
Very humid conditions this morning at Srithani as 11 members teed off in our regular Monday Society Stable ford Round.
Rain threatened but fortunately in spite of the dark clouds it held off.
The course needs a good cut but at least with a bit of rain lately the fairways were not as dry.
There were some excellent scores highlighted by Gordon Caygill's
41 points to win the day. Tony Jones also impressive with 39 points to finish second from Chuck Mc Cormick, who grabbed third position on count back from Paul Samme, both on 37 points.

Ari Jylha and Chuck Mc Morris won the two closest to the pin on the par 3 holes.
Other scores; Ari Jylha 36,Peter Hellery & Jereld Sawyer 35,Rex individual 32,Graham Firth & Terry Aston 29,Gary Parks 28.
Pleasing to have Gary Parks out playing following his persistent injury, his 28 points after so long out would be heartening for him.
Next Round will be Ubolrat Friday 17th for an 8 30am tee off.

Handicaps- Following lengthy discussion it has been decided to continue as previous with handicap adjustments made on the result of each official round. You may not receive the full spread sheet each time but you will be advised of any change that affects your handicap for your next round of competition.

17th July 2015 Udon Golf -Ubolrat Friday Results.
Once again humid conditions at Ubolrat this morning as we teed off for our regular Friday round. Ground staff have watered the fairways extensively due to the lack of rain in the area and with no cutting of the grass the course played a touch longer.
Tony Jones embraced his handicap being cut this past week and played to his new hccp to win the day with 36 points. Graham Firth rose to the challenge on the last hole to par it and record 34 points to finish second. Trevor Edge with a sound finish on the last few holes finished third with 33 points..
Closest to the Pin on the 5th and 12th holes went to Trevor Edge and Paul Samme.

Other Scores- Terry Aston 32,Denni Price 31,Paul Samme 29, Peter Hellery 27.

Udon Golf Society this Monday 20th with an 8 30am tee off.

Hi pal52, Prices vary at Udon Courses dependent on whether it is Sports Day or regular.
Srithani varies between 350 baht green and caddy fee to 450 baht.
Wing 23 is approx 100 baht cheaper.
Nong samrong is cheaper again.
Victory PK on Sports Day ie Wednesday is 640 baht (if you have a thai drivers licence)
Ubolrat is 450-500baht
Singha Pk 1050 baht Sports Days Tuesday/Wednesdays
Dancoon 500 baht.
Difficulty depends on your ability of course. However if you are beginner ie a high handicapper then Wing 23 is a good option.
Hope this helps.

20th July 2015 Udon Golf Society Results.
According to the UK Members of our Society, this morning's wet conditions at Srithani Golf Forest was normal for them. Light rain fell the first 9 holes then lightly for most of the back nine. The course was soaked but still playable and scores in spite of the conditions were excellent.
Numbers were down, no doubt due to the conditions so 7 members in attendance was probably not too bad.
Ari Jylha with 23 points on the front nine looked set for a huge handicap drop but the Golf Gods (or was it Ari) intervened and assisted in him only totaling 37 points after 18 holes.
Graham Firth 36 and Tony Jones 35 also had great rounds to finish in 2nd and 3rd spots.
Other Scores- Gary Parks (making real progress) 32,Peter Hellery 30 and Terry (I hate wet conditions) Aston had an abysmal 24 points.
July IFGG 2 day competition at Singha Park and Ubolrat this coming Wed/Thursday.

23rd July 2015 IFGG Results.
A few members struggled this morning following our Singha Round yesterday and our regular post match get together last night.
Not unusual though as our social interaction is as important as the Golf rounds we partake in.
The Ubolrat Course does not rate with Singha Pk and the greens in particular emphasize this. The weather today was more humid than yesterday and distance was affected, although that could have also been a result of the physical state of our guys on the second day.
Rex individual not surprisingly came through today with 34 points to win the Stable ford round. Extremely tight competition for the second position with Tony Jones, Gordon Caygill and Denni Price all on 31 points. On Count back Tony finished second with Gordon in third.
Closest to the Pin on the par 3 holes went to Tony Jones and Paul Samme.
Overall Winner of the July 2 day event was narrowly won by 1 point by Rex individual with 66 points with Denni Price, Gordon Caygill and Tony Jones all locked together with 65 points.

27th July 2015 Udon Golf Society Round
Humid and cloudy skies this morning at Srithani but the rain held off during our regular Monday Society Round.
Course played ok after all the rain we have had but now as a result of the break the fairways and rough are badly in need of a cut.
When you can hit the ball as long as Jereld Sawyer though you escape and diversity with the course conditions. His 42 points today was nothing less than spectacular according to those who played in his group.
Gordon Caygill continued his consistent form to card 37 points to come second, Peter Hellery 32 points finished third.
Closest to the Pin on the 2 par 3 holes went to "Lucky Tony Jones" and Gordon Caygill.

Other scores; Chuck Mc Cormick, Terry Aston & Rex individual 31,
Graham Firth 30,Gary Parks 28,Tony Jones 26,Per Hansen 22.

31st July 2015 Udon Golf/Ubolrat Friday Round
A good roll up this morning at Ubolrat for our regular Friday round.
Per Hansen back from Argentina, Gary Parks from injury and Gene Coffman all made welcome returns.
Rain threatened and but for a light drizzle occasionally it did not have a lot of effect. The course has had quite a bit of rain overnight which certainly resulted in minimum run. Overall though it was a pleasant day on the course.

Paul Samme and Per Hansen won the two closest to the pin awards on the 12th and 14th holes.

3rd August 2015 Udon Golf Society Medal Round
The weather was extremely kind to our Udon Society members this morning as the forecast of rain and thunderstorms did not eventuate.
With the recent steady rain though that had fallen the course played much longer for us short hitters.
No coincidence then that our longest hitting member Jereld Sawyer came up trumps with 75 points to win the day.
Tony Jones was second on a count back with 76 points over Terry Aston who finished third.

Other Scores; Graham Firth 77,Chuck McCormick 78,Peter Hellery & Rex individual 79,Paul Samme 80,Joe McGowan 84, Gary Parks 85.
Jereld also won the only Closest to the Pin on the par 3 8th hole.
Good to have Joe Mc Gowan back for a round and also new member Wayne Benson.
Ubolrat this Friday 8 20am balls in the hat and 8 30am tee off.

7th August 2015 Udon Golf- Ubolrat Scores.
Although we experienced no rain at Ubolrat this morning the course conditions were among the worst we have experienced for some time. Fairways were in most cases soft and soaked with balls easily plugged. The greens however ok and well prepared for the Tournament to commence on Saturday.
8 of us teed off at 8 30am,fortunately avoiding the Thai golfers who were playing practice rounds.
Tony Jones on the eve of his departure although accused of handicap protecting (lol)won the day with 35 points, closely followed in second by Trevor Edge with 34 points. Terry Aston finished third with 33 points.
Other Scores; Paul Samme 30,Deni Price 26,Peter Hellery 24,Chuck Mc Cormick N/R.
Closest to the Pin on the Par 3 5th went to Denni Price.

Udon Golf Society Stable ford Round this Monday at Srithani Forest Golf Course 8 20 am for draw and 8 30am Tee off.

Hot humid conditions this morning at Srithani for our weekly Society Round. Course starting to get back to scratch with the fairways being cut for the first time in a week or so due to the amount of rain that had fallen. Greens still in need of some work though to improve their overall consistency.
Numbers down at this stage with quite a few of our members overseas or working off shore which is not unusual for Expats here in Thailand.
Terry Aston 35 points won the day narrowly from Rex individual 33 in second and Peter Hellery third with 29 points. Overall though scores were quite low.
Other Scores; Gary Parks 26,Joe Mc Gowan 25,Gordon Caygill 24.

Handicap Adjustments- Gary Parks now playing off 17 (16.5)

Our numbers down due to many members being overseas of offshore working. Regardless though it was a pleasurable round with the normal amount of banter.
Scores; Terry Aston 32,Trevor Edge 31,Per Hansen 30,Peter Hellery &Denni Price 22.
Terry Aston won both Closest to the pin on the par 3, 5th and 12th holes.

August 18/19 2015 IFGG Results
Although numbers were down our August IFGG 2 day IFGG proved that we do not always need a large field to enjoy close competition or social interaction.Due respect to those who could not attend of course.
Wednesday we teed off at 9 am at Singha in windy hot conditions playing a Stroke round. The course was in excellent condition and the greens running at 9.5 tested us all as it was a direct contrast to our slower inconsistent Udon courses.
Per Hansen and Rex individual battled it out with only 2 net strokes separating them at the end. Per with 74,Rex 76 and Chuck in third spot with 82.
Closest to the Pin on the par 3 holes went to Peter Hellery and Per.

Crazy Hat avoidance had been the major focus for the higher scores which narrowly was won by Peter.
Our usual post game social interaction continued with drinks and pool at the Blue Bar, then an enjoyable meal at Di Dine followed by a short stop at another bar, before calling it a day quite early compared to some months.
The Ubolrat Dam provides discount Green Fee rates on Wednesdays to Elderly Thai Golfers so we decided to give our usual Blue Bar breakfast a miss and instead tee off at 8am to avoid the expected crowd.
Hot humid conditions greeted us as we commenced our Stable ford round and the opening holes were anything but well played, suggesting maybe we should have not hit the sack the previous night as early. But then Night Owls Paul, Tony and Graham were missing this trip.
Overall scores at Ubolrat were below expectations due in no small way to the adjustment required playing a tighter course, plus the slower speed of the greens compared to Singha.
After a disastrous 3 hole start Terry Aston put a good front nine 18 points together enabling him to steal the win with a miserable 32 points. Peter Hellery with an 18 point back nine finished strong with 29 points to come second with Rex individual 28 points third.
Rex and Terry won the 2 par 3 closest to the pin holes.
At the conclusion in working out the Overall 2 day winner with the assistance of Chuck Mc Cormick it worked out that we had a 3 way tie, the first time ever in the 4 years of the IFGG.
Per, Rex and Terry all had 62 overall points.

Chuck got to take home the Crazy Hat and the Spoon but credit to him for persevering as he has been out with back and neck issues.
A highlight of the 2 day Comp however was Chuck getting presented with his Award by Singha Pk for his recent Hole in One at the course. You could say he was quite chuffed as he should have been in receiving such a great prize.

Winner of the last 3 months of IFGG is Rex individual.
Peter Hellery won the March/April /May 3 months.

24th August 2015 Udon Golf Society Round Results
Warm conditions greeted our members at Srithani this morning as we teed off for our weekly Society Round.
The course was in the best condition that we have experienced for months, fairways cut allowing run, greens fast and true and the rough cut back to a manageable level.
Peter Hellery had a blinder to win the day with 40 points surprising himself and those grouped with him. Terry Aston was second with 35 points with Chuck Mc Cormick in third position with 34 points.
Other Scores- Hermanus Claussen 33,Rex individual 31,Gordon Caygill 30,Graham Firth & Ari Jylha 26,Gary Parks 18.
Par 3 Closest to the Hole winners were Graham Firth and Rex individual.
Wednesday Golf for our group will be at 8 30am tee off at Victory Pk for those interested.

Thursday 27th August 2015 Udon Golf / Ubolrat Results
Unpredictable Thailand was on show today when upon arriving at Ubolrat Dam Golf Course we were met with cloudy skies and drizzling rain. However after 10 minutes when the 10 of us teed off it had subsided and we enjoyed a pleasant round. It was great to have the company of Golfers from Khon Kaen and Nong Khai joining us for this the first of our weekly Thursday rounds.
Thursday it appears is not overly busy which helped us complete our rounds in just under 4 hours.
The course in spite of the heavy rain that had fallen was in reasonable condition.
Peter Hellery continued his good form in winning the day with 36 points plus one of the par 3 holes. Graham Firth 34 points plus one par 3 hole finished second with Terry Aston on count back coming in 3rd.
Once our new members get used to the course we are expecting very competitive rounds.

For those interested in joining us for Thursdays please advise in advance and arrive at the course at 8 20am for the draw.

Monday 31st Udon Golf Society Round at Srithani. 8 20 am balls in the hat with an 8 30am tee off.

31st August 2015 Udon Golf Society at Srithani Forest Golf Course.
Weather forecast of Thunderstorms and rain this morning was less than heartening which I know put quite a few of our members off from attending our regular Monday Society Round.
However the Golf Gods were kind to the 6 of us diehards who fronted up to challenge the course regardless of the conditions. Credit to the management that the course was in OK condition.
Terry Aston had a few lucky breaks to win the day with 37 points with Ian Barrett who has just returned from Canada pipping Ari Jylha on count back for second with both on 35 points.

Next Monday 2nd September 8 30am tee off will be our Monthly Medal Stroke Round at Srithani.
This Wednesday 8 30am tee off for those interested we will be playing at Victory Pk.

Udon Golf Society Results Monday 14th September 2015.
Good roll up this morning at Srithani Golf Course for our regular weekly Society round.
Warm conditions with temperature in the mid 30's added to by the humidity that always seem to be high at Srithani.
Stable ford format with a difference with a Winner plus hidden pairs to break the normal routine.
The fairways were ok today as was the greens but trying to determine where the fairway ended and the rough commenced was very difficult. The rough due to the rain we have had is excessive but hopefully they will cut it back sooner than later.
Rex individual with 40 points won the day plus the Closest to the Pin on the par 3 17th hole.
Ian Barrett 38 points and Terry Aston 36 won the hidden pairs.
Shot of the day went to Peter Hellery with a 30 yard pitch into the hole on the par 5 15th.
Other Scores- Ari Jylha 34,Graham Firth 31,Peter Hellery 30,Gary Parks & Jereld Sawyer 27,Gordon Caygill 24, Joe Mc Gowan 24.

Weather permitting this Wednesday at Victory Pk Golf Course for an 8 30am tee off.
