"Cheap Charlie" Tips? - as I said, down to the individual. Requested payment to someone thinking it's a fee, or to ensure an easy ride is different.

We had this before demanding monies for services that are by definition on the official web-site are free . Although one can't but help understanding the situation regarding the change ( that is why I always have the correct cash available ) , tips are just that, monies paid for services rendered normally above and beyond the call of the job description. Now for the life of me only on two occasions in the last 15 years ( apart from the holding the passport scam fro visa authentication ) services provided have been above the remit of the officer to clarify a couple of possible problems., done with a smile and I was made to feel at ease the whole time. That was tipped generously.

This is part of a system whereby the public pay extra for minimal services already paid for by the Govt to the officers concerned and it is a corrupt practice which you can complain about to the relevant office, or you can as many do just decline to partake.
Myself I never get asked others I am sure also never get asked, they are selective in their requests, the last 90 day I did was in and out in 3 minutes done with a smile and a Happy New Year, no requests for anything at all .

I will agree they are very selective, and I was always selected. So for the past two years I have not stepped inside Udon immigration.

I get a one year multi entry (based on marriage) from Savannakhet, Loas. No financial info required. Have to border run every 3 months but not a big deal.

The pictures you posted DuiDui are concerning Tourist Visas.
NTVL gets multiple entry non 'o' based on marriage.
The thread you mention on TV talks about applying for Tourist Visas.
One poster (Uncle Baz) posted this information, which applies to NTVL's situation..
For those that asked if requirements for a non-O multiple entry visa based on marriage conditions had changed at Savannakhet, I applied, as normal, Wednesday (4th) and collected 1 year visa on the following day, as normal. No changes there - but a lot of people were being rejected initially for SETVs as stated previously because of the new rules proving finances etc.
It would appear that NTVL can carry on as normal... :D

Multi entry non im “O” ….. 5000 Baht
Laos visa every 90 days…. (4 x 1500) 6000 Baht
Travel and accommodation (1st trip overnight) then 3 x border hops… 2000 Baht maybe if you do it on the cheap.
Total cost about 13,000 +
Not to mention time and effort.

Much better to pay for the extension at the immigration office…. 1900 Baht with maybe 500 baht in tips per year.

Colleague of.mine has the Muliple O Visa ( Marriage ) and is unable to show funds of 40 K per month income for his 90 reporting in Khon Kaen.

He does the border rin to Savanaket and takes his car over with him.

Since when has proving 40k/month financials been a part of 90-day reporting? Or is this something unique to the KK IO?

Yes, but he gets his arse out of Ban Nork at least 3 times a year, stretches his legs (and mind) and doesn't have to ponder if admitting to freely tipping the oxygen wasters at Udon IO is really some sort of social stigma.

What is the time window for the 90 day report? 7 days before to the expiration day?

I think 7 before/7 after, but I've gone in 2-3 weeks early with the excuse that I'll be out of town when it's due. No problem.

I admit it would be cheaper to pay the 1900 baht, but Udon wanted 3000 and I refused and instead I had to make a border run, since then I stay away.

Is this visa still available at Savannakhet? I used to get a similar visa every year from the UK but, they told me last month that it is no longer available. The options given were to get a tourist visa, get a 3 month O based on marriage and extend locally with the financial implications this incurs or get an OA.
