"I hope just mentioning it doesn’t ‘put a spanner in the works’ for tomorrow!"

I needn't have worried. Udon 2 - Sakaeo 1.
And Americans will be pleased to read there's still Japanese-US co-operation. Saruta (Japanese) scored Udon's first and Obama the second. :-k ;)

P.S. Obama's actually from Cameroon.

I see there is a Brazilian up front. Truly an international team.

I'm not certain if you're referring to Dudu Lima, a forward who made his debut last week, or to the SECOND Brazilian forward signing, Valci Junior, now I believe cleared this week as available to play. The latter comes with a very impressive scoring record, although has moved Clubs regularly. He may well prove important for Udon to progress this season.Personally, I felt a recognised central striker/target was what was missing last week, although still managed the win.
A player from the Ivory Coast, plus those from Cameroon and Japan already mentioned, make up the international element.
Game tomorrow (SATURDAY, this time) again at home v Phrae, who has also won their opening two games. Phrae hold top position on goals scored, Udon second place. Who can retain the 100% record? Let's hope Udon can do it yet again with their great home record. [-o<

Do you get into the ground by going into University's main gate?
What time is kick off & is it Thai time- anytime they decide or is it on the dot?
Or do they wait until enough gate money has been collected

Main entrance maybe your best bet at the moment, Vid. Some do enter by the Uni's 'auditorium' or the school at the rear of the Uni campus, park up, and then cross a stream over bridges. I understood that one of these bridges was out of use at present. If you are coming by car, lots of traffic and 'madness' after, particularly about the Prince Prajak roundabout, although some unlucky traffic police there to try and maintain some order.
There has actually been quite an improvement in getting games k.o'd and restarted on time. Players now seem to acknowledge their fans (although many still to arrive) after warming up, instead of just before k.o. We have to endure the rigmarole of management/team , then just team huddles before getting going (one would really think they have instructions should have got 'fired up' already), but think the ref is getting them out early enough to still make k.o. on time - um, usually. :-).
I would suggest you arrive perhaps 20-30 minutes before scheduled ko (6 pm tomorrow and usually), otherwise you may struggle a little to find space to sit.

Seems you get fined this season if you`re to blame for a late kick-off. I read an article about punishments earlier this week, and a few teams were fined 6,666 baht because kick-offs were delayed 1-2 minutes due to teams coming out late, having a huddle or staying in front of their own fans. :D

But walking off to protest for up to 15 minutes is still allowed...

Well it wouldn't be Thailand if we 'guests' weren't left scratching our heads over things, including football.

I''m sure you're going to miss out Valiant. Udon's last home league game in the current 2017 season is on 16th September.
Last weekend they lost to league leaders Khon Kaen and the chance of finishing top has gone, barring what would be an amazing turnaround, because of a large points gap and just seven games left. First place means automatic promotion. A good chance to finish second remains, which could mean a play off against the team finishing 2nd in the southern division 3 group, for the remaining promotion place. But if that occurs, the play off will still be 'sorted' before your arrival. The season usually starts February.
Can I refer you to Svein's http://englishudfc.com/ site, which has a wealth of information about the Club.

To continue the discussion on the overpass thread....!

I agree with Brian that it does seem a pity that there is apathy towards the local Team - particularly in view of their big games coming up. I think part of of it, as far as falang are concerned, is that it is difficult to identify with the players when they seem to be on a constant conveyor belt moving from club to club.

Personally, I enjoy watching any football and happily stand at the pitch mentioned on the other thread in Kumphawapi watching the games but, in 10 years out here, as far as UDFC are concerned, I have yet to venture up to the big city to watch live although I do take in the live feeds mentioned on the FB page.

Good luck to UDFC this weekend!

Hi Mate - long time no see. If you ever fancy catching an Udon game then give me a shout. I occasionally go with my brother-in-law.
Cheers

One - the 2nd leg of the play off against Trang. The w/e of 7/8 Oct. Not sure which one.

On the local football front, I've adopted Nongbua Pitchaya FC as my team. And quite a few of the guys here in Nongbualamphu go to the games. I am hoping that UDFC get promoted as it will give us a couple of local derbys, Khon Kaen being promoted already, and we can have some away trips. At the moment the closest games for Nongbua are in Bangkok.

The home game against Trang is on Sunday 8th October, ko 1800 hours. What's required from Udon will rest upon the result of the first leg this Saturday 30th September in Trang. There'll probably be a link - watch the Facebook page for info.
Nongbua has done well, it seems, in their first season in division 1. Whilst it's Udon which has been knocking on the promotion door for several seasons(blowing it each time!), I'm still peeved that Udon managed to lose to Nongbua in last season's playoffs! Besides, I used to live there and it's the ex-wife's home.

Their colours look a bit red for my liking. Will stick with the neutral orange of Udon!!

I think it's actually pink, isn't it? In spite of these 'enlightened' days and for the Thai, it doesn't seem to have any particular significance or taboo (male, female, sports teams etc), not certain I could ever cheer a team in pink and buying a replica shirt is a certain no! Not that I'm keen on orange that much either, albeit the town's recognised colour. I've opted for purchase of the away Udon shirt (blue mainly) in recent years.

A good win for Nongbua tonight 3 - 0 in the Chang FA cup against Prachuap. Into the last 8.
On Sunday, Nongbua vs Ubon UMT ( Thai premier league team) in the last 16 of the Toyota league cup.
