Deffo big enough land to be OK for a pack of guard dogs.

And even big enough to dig a MOAT around it and fill it with saltwater crocs.

My wife says the robbers were so drunk they slipped up and said each other's names.

BET the cops won't do a thing though as they have not been PAID.

Heard tonight that the local authorities may have a strong lead in this case.

We'll see. Sometimes they do fast work.

It is a sad situation when you have to live like that. A person should feel safe at home, unfortunately Thailand is changing.

Whilst we were in the process of acquiring a weapon (gun) one of the police told us (through the wife) to make sure that she was the one holding the smoking gun when they arrive!
Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, hit 'em with the one they don't expect, and just keep hitting.

One of my parishioners in High Wycombe years ago , was fed up with people crossing his land as a short cut and damaging his plants and generally being abusive and rude when he told them off, They resorted to doing it at night and severely damaging the plants.
So he resorted to the Old Vietnamese trick of burying pointed sticks in the grass boundary surrounding the house, after one or two occasions when he saw bloody sticks the walkers stopped cutting through. he said was it illegal, I said well technically yes but as no complaint had ever been made and not likely to then it was poetic justice. he did not do it they did it to themselves.
So there are ways to deterring intruders without even having a dog , but it does take some nefarious thoughts and planning , I like that way nd with the size of the garden in this particular case a idea that could be a positive action, unless of course they climb over the gate, which you could have electrified, that would work too.

Does anyone know where to buy an electric energizer (the box that does the electric part) for an electrified wall? Not an energizer for cow pen but one for two legged varmints.

fun one........... is a rat trap (snapping type), trip wire, nail and shotgun shell, very easy to set up.

even without the buckshot, it'll scare the piss out of anyone. with double odd buck, you'll have to stab the guy numerous times to cover up that he was shot.................thinking about it better without shot, to much trouble removing all the buckshot.

you can use a regular bullet, but not 100% you'll hit the guy.

As intruders are most likely to climb the wall to enter, pointed steel pins on top of the wall with electric cable attached. Can be of rebar for example if not want the expense of stainless. Keep the amperes low so not kill instantly.

The other way for a wall is to put angled brackets so they poiunt inside the wall and put the razor wire and electrified wire about 6 inches inside your property and abouit 4 inches down from the top, they cannot say it was an accident as they have to actually climb up the wall and start to enter your property before they get zapped or cut. Either that or acquire a crossbow with darts as they climb over let loose and after they have fallen down retrieve said dart and ring the police to come and collect said person. How he got his injuries would be a complete mystery to you.
I mean if they can come at you with a large lump of wood over a minor car accident , anything goes really does it not.

I don't see it here, but in Vietnam they concrete in broken glass on top of the fence. Usually if blood is found it ain't on your side of the fence.
If your going to have a guard dog and building a house don't wait till the contractors have finished. Let all and sundry know now what you have if they return uninvited.

Well i live in Udon and the << broken glass >> approach is quite popular in my area, my 2 next-door neighbours employ it.
Once i wanted to hang plastic sheeting from the roof and i had to stand on the neighbour s broken glass wall Challenging to say the least.

Yes that thought had crossed my mind as when I wished to buy said razor wire a few years ago I was told no-way, although it is really only upgraded barb wire they get a little sensitive about it. point taken I do know where I can source it but it is a bit iffy to say the least.
Why they are so worried about it I have no idea but they are worried about silly things but 11 year olds riding through a village on a motorbike they cannot control hitting other cars and causing damage they laugh about I really do not understand what is so dangerous about razor wire when the average citizen in this country is a walking death trap especially if you add a mechanically propelled vehicle .

Re. glass on the wall top.
Not much good, I think. All you need is a hammer and a blanket and you can safely climb over. There are quiet ways to break down the glass too.

I don't recall ever seeing flood lights with PIRs on or around any properties we've stayed in. I think they're a pretty good (safe) way to prevent opportunists entering the grounds as who wants to be lit up for all & sundry to see

A couple of good dogs are the best option, although if they really want in they will poison the dogs.

Unfortunately this does happen if somebody really wants to get at you or your possessions, it would be a heartbreaking warning that something is about to happen .... we always keep one dog inside at nights and he would need to be shot dead to stop him tearing intruders to pieces ,, the slightest strange noise outside and just his bark is enough to scare most away..

This is one of the reasons the Thais have so many yappy dogs, they are like mini walking burglar alarms
