Why would you use the Thai Banks rate? It’s always as poor as bank rates are in many other countries.

If you’re transferring from abroad use something like Wise or if you’ve already got a stash of greenbacks here, Chinese/Thai gold shops. You’ll get a lot better rates even after fees.

45.33 THB/GBP this morning which is nice. As a matter of interest, Wise is 45.3281 THB/GBP at the time of writing

Changed some GBP from my account at Kasikorn yesterday and only got 44.85.

My son tried to buy some GBP at 2 exchanges and was told he could not by foreign currency.

He went to the bank and they informed him the Government has put a ban on buying foreign currency you can change into Thai baht but can not use Baht to buy GBP.

I have never read anything about this in any news source and can not understand why they would do this.

He called in the Gold shop/Currency exchange near the middle roundabout and yes they will sell him GBP.

The Govt must be frightened of the big boys speculating on the Baht going further down against the Dollar if they have stopped the banks from anyone buying foreign currency.

The big boys (rich people) always win so maybe we will see the exchange rate of the dollar and other currency's go even higher.
