It is very frustrating to go in and look at ads in classified.
All ads must be opened in order to be able to see if the product in question is left or not. In some cases you get either Guess if it is Sold or try to send pm or mail to the advertiser that in most cases, does not respond when it comes to ads that remained inside for long. This is beneath contempt and ads where the product is sold has obviously served its toll and should be removed
Why is not there a delete button so the advertiser can remove the ad when it's sold???????????????

Frustrating Ads in Classified
These days life seems pretty good and I eagerly look forward to the continuation!
Frustrating Ads in Classified
As far as I am aware an advertiser can delete an advert once it is no longer applicable.
If not, then they can certainly e-mail Admin & request that it is removed.
A majority of advertisers come onto the Forum just to sell their product. They probably also go onto a great number of places to sell the same product as well.
When it is sold it is doubtful that they bother to go back & tidy up in all the places that they advertised it.
That might not be the 'right thing to do' but is what happens the the real world.
If advertisers are first time posters then they cannot physically reply to PMs.
If a question about the product remains unanswered then it is highly unlikely that the product is still for sale.
The classified system is FREE, to everyone. It is intended as an extra 'offering' to members for no cost to them. If you want an organised & regulated advertising system then it is highly unlikely that anyone will be willing to supply that for free.

Frustrating Ads in Classified
kj,
In most all cases, a phone number is provided, so if in doubt, a phone call is all it takes. Another option is just to ask "is the item still available?"
For what it's worth, there has been some discussion about what to do with the classified section in regards to your concerns. At this point though, I don't think there are many options.
Thanks for your input/concern.

Frustrating Ads in Classified SOLD
what the classified section needs is to have a post pinned as sticky saying that if an item is sold, change the title as SOLD, so the board admin can eventually clean up the old posts.
Many members have no clue what to do after a sale? Some post sold and bump the ad back to the top of the list, but not change the title, making everyone go to look again.
