Man when is it going to cool down?

Post by douglas » November 15, 2012, 4:06 pm

Hi,
You are lucky. Temp at my house, just inside ring road, reading from my weather station, now is 35.9C and no wind. Clear blue skies wall to wall. Even the dogs are knackered. Still be thankful, just got a e-mail from home, 9C and cold wind. I know where i would rather be.
Cheers from a happy Udon chappie.

I thought it had cooled down - last 2 days have been nearly pleasant, under 34 degrees - i really notice the difference to the 35-37 we were getting before. But 4 years ago, it would rarely get to 30 degrees most days in November. Climate change or what?

The further you get away from cement the cooler it gets. The farm was very comfortable this afternoon. The cooler it gets the more mushrooms I have to sale. 22 tonight might do the trick.

My wife and housekeeper say 'any week now' in answer to your original question. ;) It is amazing to me that it is mid-November and it feels like July where I grew up.

Rick...you have my vote for 'most adapted' if you can deal with Thailand without AC! Today the AC was on at 10:30 AM and is still on. Same yesterday, same day before.

Heh, and do not blame it on global warming, or ronan will be in here pitching a fit. But it is shaping up to be the hottest year on record since records were kept, but it is just coincidence. ;)

It was really nice at the farm today, even cut a little rice with the neighbor, good neighbor policy. Actually very comfortable at First Homes today. Went from 1/2 kilo to three on the mushrooms with the cool last night.

Yes, this morning very pleasant, was able to get 2 hours in on the garden without getting heat stroke! But my 'air-con' (i.e. the fan) was on by 10 a.m. It's an old Thai house and heats up something awful by the afternoon (31 degrees even today by 4 p.m.). Back in 2010 was sometimes wearing a jumper by now, and needing a blanket at night. Last cold season only used a blanket about 8 times - one sheet enough the rest of the time. haven't needed the blanket yet this season. Have a fan for sleeping, and still using it.

I don't think i am well adapted - spend half the day slumped next to the fan! ( well for the past 2 months). Last April-May was a trial too - 40 was a struggle. Air conditioner needs an adequate power supply, and a decent point to install it - have neither! baby first, then car, power maybe 2013, air -?

Fairbanks has been having some -30c nights so no complaints from me. No aircon here but it hardly matters as I am outside one way or another.

I'm enjoying this. Just read a article on my home town, Fairbanks, Alaska. Utilities now run 143% of the national average and another cold snap just passed through. Don't mind sweating at all.

For me a moot point now. The kids got their paperwork for visas so I will probably be heading back to Alaska soon regardless of temperature. -30c this week. Plus side we have world class cross country skiing trails.

I was thinking the heat this Nov was out of the ordinary..........but in 2002, we had a 5 day string of 90's in early December.....with 92 recorded on a few of them.

Yesterday and today at kilo 18 91degrees. We did hear some late afternoon thunder.....and I saw a rainbow over Udon.......but not a drop fell here.

akw.....I was just thinking.....it's 81 currently at my home.......you say -31 where you're going.......that 112 degrees of difference. I'm starting to feel better about the weather here already.

Eat my words. Within a minute of posting the above, it started to rain......last measurable rainfall at our home on 8 Oct. Tonight's is already measurable.....remains to be seen whether it'll continue. But a pleasant surprise none the less!

He said -30C, which is ONLY -22 F. ;) So a bit over 100 degrees difference, but still really cold. I could use a few days of 72-75 as a high and lower 60's as a low, with a 5 MPH breeze blowing and about 35% relative humidity. (if we're going to dream, might as well ask for it all!)

We had a pretty good gully washer here in Nongsamrong. Wind, thunder and lightning, with about an hour of light to moderate rain. Power burps/brownouts about every 15 minutes.
