Living here or planning to come?
Over two hundred members now so i was wondering how many are here,or planning to come or just come for their hols.
Myself,i've been retired here since 1997 when i came in search of a climate that was good for my back, and a country that was Buddhist.
Did try India and thought about Sri Lanka but the Tamils were kicking up a fuss at the time.

But I thought you said you had a Thai wife - surely that influenced your decision - even a little bit - or did you meet her after you arrived here ?businessman wrote:

3 of the options you mention are kind of applicable to me:
I plan to retire and get the hell out of this cr@p hole of a country by 50 at the latest.Got a set plan to come in a particular year
If the above does not work out, then this is the correct option I guessSaving to come but no date as yet
My favourite, and least likely optionhoping for divine intervention(lottery/inheritance)

Way to go BB. I can relate to this as The guys at work told me, they are glad I am going as they were tired of hearing me say that I was. Well the time is very close and I am excited. Damn car wreck and back surgery are all holding me back. Get over that and here I go.
I'm sure you have sat around the shop and talked about what you would do with the lottery win. Heck they did not even ask as they knew what it is.
Had tickets for August 3 but did not make that. Soon, VERY SOON!!!

Bloody tax time so I've just arrived in Perth to do battle with the dreaded accountant , it's miserable and cold, fuel prices are outrageous, cost me AUD 130.00 for 1/2 trolley of groceries, etc.
After 3 days I wanna go home to Isaan where I've enjoyed a comfortable life style for near on 3 years, prior to that 2 years in BKK.
Another 30 long days but whose counting

No,came here first and then met the wife.Lived on Samui first and met a girl who worked in one of the restaurants. That went sour and headed North to do my visa runs as bored with going to Penang.Met the current wife in Nong Khai while on a visa run to Laos. But I thought you said you had a Thai wife - surely that influenced your decision - even a little bit - or did you meet her after you arrived here ?

My company is having a major re-org in January. If there are redundancy offers on the table and I can take a slightly reduced pension at 55, then I'm going to take it and hopefully be living in LOS sometime next year. Probably start living in Udon but at this moment have no definite plans to settle down there.
Would like my GF to spend 3-6 months in England before I leave. But as you all know, getting a Visa is a pain in the butt.
