Wild pig and loose monkey

Post by parrot » May 7, 2014, 1:53 pm

We've lived in our house in the 'jungle' for just shy of 16years.....seen a bunch of cobras, pornographic mushrooms, yellow kraits mating, wild ducks, jungle chickens, white squirrels, mongoose, chipmunks, and centipedes that you could wrap around your wrist.........thought we'd seen prettying much all of what the jungle had to offer. This weeks, though, a jungle pig came out and dug up my wife's prized palm orchid looking for grubs.....and today, when our dogs went wild.....I ran outdoors expecting to see the white squirrel in for a visit......but was shocked to see a rather large monkey sitting in our santol tree helping himself (clearly) to a helping of fruit. What next? Tigers?

A dinosaur? They're very popular with Thais.

Keep your camera handy and put on a clean shirt and have a shave every morning in case you're on CNN that day about the dinosaur. Old friends don't count as dinosaurs in this context.

There's a guy at kilo 16 (Udon-Nongbualamphu Hwy) who has a grove of lime trees that are producing hundreds....at the height of the season when limes are most expensive. I'm not sure of the type....but they are big and have lots of juice. He makes as much selling cuttings as he does limes.....a single cutting goes for 100 Baht and he sold 4000 in the past month. My wife bought a bag of 10 limes from him a few days ago, fresh from the tree, 4 baht each. They'll last a long time in the fridge.
I don't think monkeys like limes.

Well, they say there's a wild tiger or two on Phu Kradung and I'm guessing that's not too far away from you.
