Reminder to File FBAR for Americans

Americans have until 30 June to file "Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts".

If you have over $10,000 in foreign bank accounts at any point in a year, you are supposed to provide info to the Treasury Dept. This used to be Form TD F 90-22.1 but that has changed this year.

You now have to file electronically. FinCen Form 114 according to your tax return. The process is rather straight forward and the website worked fine for me and did not crash. $\:D/$

And be aware that next year the deadline for filing the FinCen Form 114 moves from June 30th to April 15th.
