Monkey business

Post by mortiboy » May 26, 2015, 7:53 pm

Just down the road from me is a Rough and ready hut. Outside they have this monkey. The poor thing is locked in this bamboo cage about 5 foot square. It looks so pitiful. What did he do to be locked up forever?
Is it legal or not?
I would go there and release him but there's soi dogs there everywhere.
Anyway i'm a farang!

This is Thailand, not India. If you release him what do you think will happen to him? Unlike in India, where he might find other monkeys running around free in the cities... in Thailand... he'll probably just be killed somehow. I'd try and find some animal control department in the government somewhere.... assuming there is one. I doubt they could do anything about it though. Animals here are mistreated by the millions every day. Yes, it is sad though!

The monkey will belong to someone, having had previous experience with monkeys unless you are wanting to look after it yourself (which would also mean getting a cage) you might not do it any favors by releasing it,

Where will it go? they are extremely destructive and it will leave a trail of chaos which could end up costing you a lot of money if found out to be the one who had sprung the monkey  if it was aggressive and no one could control or catch it there is a good chance it would be killed...

If you want to do it a favor try and make friends with it, take it some fruit and see if after a bit it will come to you... if it takes to you the other option is to offer to buy it..... then the fun will begin

Gee can't believe these responses. If you can, go find it and release it. One day or more of complete freedom is surely better than living in that hell-hole. Thais don't give a ---- about most things except money and their individual. They don't finish anything cos they just want to save money, most dogs and cats are walking diseases, they'll trade a dog for a bucket - and yet they'll happily spend all the time they can gassing about nothing, drinking and smoking until they zonk out. All this nonsense about "they're poor and they can't afford to do things properly" - well it's a load of crap, they just have very different priorities. Higher basic standards need to be set in this country otherwise they will never eek their way out of the 3rd world.

Thats the way it is here. Have you ever seen a cow slaughtered along the side of the road?
Not a pretty site!
