Baan Jig - Car repairs

I've been having a few problems with my Nissan NV, its running a bit rich which isn't terribly unusual for such an old car, I used to smoke a bit when I was 21 too ;) Anyway, I'd taken the car to a couple of local garages, one told me I needed a new engine and the other said I needed to replace an expensive part at the back of the engine, both diagnosis didn't seem right so when I saw the ad for Baan Jig on UM I thought I'd give them a go. The young man who owns the place is lovely and polite, he speaks pretty good English too which helps and he promptly told me exactly what was wrong, an evaporator, a petrol filter and a couple of small bits that control the airflow and petrol mix, hence why it's running rich. From what I've seen so far I'm impressed, by the by, he only charged 200 baht for sorting out my fan belt and the diagnosis, great stuff, very happy.

Credit given where credit's due, if you look after your customers they will come back, some of the other places we went to were just after making a quick buck, not clever, people will only be fooled once. Please let me know when the parts are in and your friend can do the welding for me.

I'm happy to see a good review posted for Baan Jig Garage. I have spoken with the owner, Nan, by chat on several occasions and he seems to be very knowledgeable and is a perfect gentleman who speaks and writes great English. As yet I haven't had an occasion to actually use his services, but this recent review just confirms my belief that I will get good service and be treated fairly when and if I do need his help. Keep up the good work Nan!

An update on my repairs with Baan Jig - I'm very happy so far, the sensors that they said would stop the engine running rich have done exactly that and the engine is running very smoothly and clean. Being the perfectionists they are, they have ordered a new distributor cap which will make run better still. This might seem like they've had the car a while but I told them to take their time, I'm in no rush and the car is very old and the spares are not quite so easy to source. Next comes the welding of the new floor pans, strengthening of the chassis and then it's off to the sprayers for a new coat of paint. These guys really know their stuff, I'm a happy man.

The final update on my experience with Baan Jig.

Work completed by them -

Fuel sensor on the front of the engine replaced
Fuel control unit at the back of the engine, quite a big part, replaced
Fuel filter on side of engine replaced
Distributor replaced
Spark plugs replaced

Floor pans both sides cut out because of rust and renewed with welded steel plates
Bottom of pickup completely cleaned and under sealed.

Pickup doesn't smoke any more and drives like new, I'm extremely happy with the results from this garage, the chap that owns it knows his stuff 100% and he's definitely the mechanic of choice for any future work I have.

Job completely finished for 15,000 baht, bearing in mind the pickup is 21 years old and the parts aren't so easy to source because it's Japanese I'm very, very happy with the price too.

My experience with Nan at Ban Jig has been great.
Full review conducted of vehicle.Price and details of work required presented before proceeding.
All work completed (electrics...lights etc) as requested in a timely manner and all working well.
I will be taking my car back to get new tyres from them as well.
Great overall experience.

We took my wife's Ford Focus to Baan Jig Service yesterday morning. The idiot light said something about transmission failure and to get it serviced. I never drive her car but on the way to Baan Jig it was obvious that it was a transmission issue - often did not change gears and sometimes the engine would race. Arrived at Baan Jig and I was impressed with the service. The owner hooked it up to his computer analyzer and asked if he could take it for a test ride. He was gone for a while and I was concerned that he might be broken down alongside some street. He arrived back and I was concerned that I would have to limp on down to the Ford place for repairs. It was not necessary - the owner explained that he had cleared the computer diagnostic message and that had solved the problem. It cost us 300 baht. I was extremely impressed with getting a full explanation of the problem, the solution, and suggestion on how to prevent a recurrence. Completely different experience than I am accustomed to from Ford.

Yesterday My car was over heating as the cooling fan stopped.I took in to Nan at Ban Jig and he and the team repaired it and they also conducted a computer scan to make sure I hadn't cooked the engine.(lucky all good)
I also had work done on the rear wheel bearing which was due and had four new tyres (Maxxis) replaced.(5800 THB)
Great efficient service and a very reasonable price.
A pleasure to deal with.
By looking at some of the other cars that have also been worked on there, they appear to service all types of makes and models years etc....

Nan at Baan Jig is terrific. I agree. I purchased a used Pajero Sport 2 weeks ago. The warranty had lapsed so after seeing the positive comments about Nan and Baan Jig I decided to have him service my SUV. Computer diagnostics, oil change, A/C service, brake fluid change, overall vehicle inspection and tail light replacement. Labor cost 500bht. What a deal!!! He knows his stuff. Then I asked Nan if he knew someone who did Detail Work. He had the men report to his garage where he over saw the work: paint buffed, paste wax, headliner, carpet shampoo, leather cleaned/conditioned, engine cleaned, undercarriage cleaned and lightly oiled . When the work was completed it looked like a new car. I highly recommend Nan and Baan Jig. I'll be back for my next service.

Looking at Google street view you actually look to be on Asavamit road about 50 to 100 metres from the junction with Amphoe road

Is that correct?

As soon as you turn onto Asavamit road, Baan Jig is on the right

I wish he would put up a sign in English.

If you can find the DELIO you can find Baan Jig, it is the easiest of places to find. When he says it is opposite the DELIO he really means it.
