Blood transfusion costs

Hi,
Does anyone know the cost of a 'unit' (approx 500ml) of blood at the Government hospital in Udon? (The hospital couldn't tell me!!!!!!). Anyone had to pay for blood?

The International Red Cross coordinate blood donor / transfusion services in many countries eg Australia and there is no charge for this.
The Thai Red Cross coordinate this important service as well.
I have posted this question on their Facebook page , to get a response.
I relise this is BKK Based, but the Agency I expect would have a Country Wide Policy for this.

I have spoke to my neighbour who is a General Surgeon in the private sector here in Udon.
He confirms that there is NO charge for Blood Transfusions in the public or private sector as it is provided by the Thai Red Cross under their charter.
