July 2017 Holidays

Just a bit of a heads up for Banks (ATM specifically) & Government departments.
Might be a good idea to get anything done on Friday.. :D

As it is the start of the 3 month Buddhist equivalent of Lent, I suspect that Saturday, at least, will be alcohol sales free.... but maybe one of the contributing bar owners can advise on what the police/army are saying this year...

Edit
I gather that Phuket sources are saying that bars there will be shut both Saturday & Sunday next weekend...

Yes Bob we will be closed Saturday and Sunday........told by the local BIB yesterday to not open so good weekend to do a few changes in the bar and the staff get a few days off. Bugger though for the Lions and weekend footy and league.

Schools ????

Surely not !

They moan in the UK about teachers getting six weeks holiday but here I doubt that they ever manage to work six weeks a year

By that statement it is clear you have had nothing to do with schools in Thailand.

only having to be home childminding every time there's "no School today"

still think the best one was ....."can't go to school for a couple of days as the playground is being used as an overflow car park"

FWIW, some Pattaya news sites are reporting 24-hours of enforced public sobriety from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.

Which is of course 48 HOURS.

Nescafe is nonsense isn't it?

On weekends like the one that's coming up, my mate breaks out the over-sized stripey ceramic mugs in his Pattaya hole-in-the-wall bar and serves 'special tea'.

A couple of our regular BIB dropped in for a beer :D and confirmed as most already know no alcohol sales of any type permitted from Midnight tonight to Midnight Sunday (Thats 48 hrs Tam) ... Monday is an added holiday as the second day or Khao Pansa falls on the Sunday but Monday IS NOT dry and venues can sell alcohol.

Beer in coffee mugs whatever next  never heard of such a thing and tantamount to treachery !!

Just for info.

Bars might be open Monday & Tuesday but the bloomin' schools are closed AGAIN

Perhaps the new individual will want his subjects to celebrate his birthday and therefore order bars to remain open :-"
