With the way tourists are ripped-off in Thailand only a fool would want to come here for that purpose....

Eight years ago I had a hernia come on.....Went to hospital in BKK where I av been going to for years for dental n minor aliments.....
The doc asked how was I paying.....I will pay...He then said, cost will be B 50,000.00....
I rang my insurance company n they said they would cover the cost....
I go back to see the doctor n tell him my insurance will now cover my costs....
He then said, the operation would now be B 80,000.00.....
It does not matter what profession a Thai is in, they want to rip u off....Ingrained in Thai culture....
I decided to go back to OZ n av it done as I felt safer with my doctors in Australia...

I never advise the hospitals of my insurance cover.

That way I review the final account and like in Dec last year. lots of mistakes, charges for medications not administered etc, meals charged but i was on a Nil Oral regime with acute diarrhea and vomiting. Took over an hour to have it re calculated and then presented my Cigna Card.

I had my appendix out at Wattana hospital about ten years ago cost about $1200 Canadian. They took me to an ATM in an ambulance as there wasn't one near the hospital at the time. Everything turned out fine.
However Thailand has priced themselves out of the market for dental implants ,eastern europe is by far the best ,check out somewhere like Latvia.

I imagine costing in flights for Eastern European clinics needs to be added vs Asian Clinics.

Medical tourism will still be a regional market for many.....

Cant see Australians flying to Latvia for breast enlargments, Phuket / BKK yes

Of course all this does it puts our insurance premiums up.

Majority of elective / cosmetic surgery isnt covered by insurance. Boobs Bums and Tucks etc

Dude! You have not seen a rip off until you try to pay for medical services in 'murica. The worse scam in a Thai hospital will not touch it.......

Do you really think this kind of 'inflation' only happens in Thailand?

It happens everywhere, especially when an Insurance Company is paying.
