Sad day for all of Barry's family, friends and acquaintances.
My sincere condolences to his family and especially his son and daughter in town at the moment. Stay strong you are not alone.
You both will hear many good stories of Barry and guaranteed all will be true blue yarns. It will truly be a time to now celebrate his life as a good bloke and friend to many.
Personally I was just developing a strong friendship with Barry as someone to have a chat and beer with when in town and also as his business partner, not being in UT at this time is hard to take, not being able to say a final farewell to a friend.

Rest in Peace Barry
Aom and Barney

I can only echo what everyone has posted so far.
I only met Barry on a few occasions, but he always came across as a genuine and friendly guy.
RIP

I have just been reliably informed that a cremation for Barry will be this Wednesday at 1pm.
The Wat is to be found adjacent to the railway near Nong Sim lake.
Coming into town from the ring road lights nearest Global house,
The Wat is a left turning before the railway crossing and the gateway is marked, I am told by 2 horse statues.
Any further news I will endeavour to impart in good time.

That is about right Jo, also a large open playing field beside the wat entrance. Opposite the entrance there is a demolished building and a small shop with blue tarp over the front beside the demolished building.

Urgent update!!!
For some reasons the Monks cannot perform the ceremony tomorrow (Wednesday)
The cremation has been put back until Thursday.
The actual cremation is due to take place at 1.00pm, however, people are invited to pay their
last respects from 11.00am onwards.
I hope this will now be the definitive post.

The coordinates for the temple are in the lower part of the photo. Tomorrow is a Buddhist Day, therefore, they can't cremate.

I just had a pretty ---- day at work but after a few beers, I felt a bit better... as you do. But I have just caught up on this tragic news and this places my ---- day in an entirely new perspective.

Baz, I knew you for less than a year but you were one of the best mate... this is just way, way too sad.

RIP

Because this is a new page of the thread I am pasting a message regarding the cremation ceremony being rescheduled to Thursday not Wednesday for the reasons parrot kindly mentioned.

RIP Baz, it is so sad your loss. I have fond memories of just sitting and having a snack n beer at the picnic table by Nong Sim, or at Papa Z's when I'd run into you.

Attended Barry's funeral earlier today , lots of his expat and Thai friends there very good turnout. Emotional tributes from his son Tim and Daughter Laura....very sad day indeed.

Thanks to Roong Squires and her team for their assistance over the last few days and the many arrangements they made for today.

I endorse whole heartedly your comment re: Roong and her staff.
In difficult and emotional times like this, having a caring, qualified, Thai team in support,
smooths out all the possible difficulties.

Thank you Roong and your team.

RIP Bazz

One of the best send-offs I've ever seen in Thailand ..... Thai traditional ceremony, translated into English followed by traditional Farang ideals complete with eulogies!
A fantastic send-off with maybe close to 100 Thai/Farang attendance!

RIP mate, I'm glad I knew you 8)

Nick.

There are many people we meet on the path through life but only a few enrich that passage.

Baz, you were one of the few.

Be good. See ya later.
