The first time I saw pineapple on a pizza made me frown and wonder who would do that. My biggest surprise came after I tasted it. It makes a good pizza even better. To each his own.

Get those MIssion pizza bases (either Big C or Villa) and go for it. Like any pizza, keep the toppings thin.

Googled it

Rowie – the Scottish answer to the Croissant, only with lard and loads of salt. Looks like a small golden cowpat,  lasts longer in your cupboard than a Twinkie, and will survive the apocalypse. Lovely toasted with a slather of butter.

Sounds like a English muffin or American bagel

^ Scottish croissants aka butteries

Rowies. That’s what they call them in Aberdeen. There is a linguistic divide between city and shire: as one aficionado puts it, “The toonsers ca’ them rowies and the teuchters ca’ them butteries.”

PS: I'm a teuchter but call them rowies which makes me a pretentious teuchter.

Mrs tam fell in love with rowies on her first trip to the clan cave, hence the (semi) standing order for the aid package from a bakery back home. As well as the butter (on a buttery), she follows my late mum's preferred rowie topping with a dollop of Rose's Lime Marmalade.

The rowie is a bit salty hence the tartness of the lime offsets it nicely.

I would go for clotted cream and strawberry jam on a fresh scone though. I recall hundreds of years ago when BA served them on the afternoon flights to Aberdeen with wee pots of Baxters jam. They were bloody awesome.

Haha, interesting fact!

When I was young I met Gordon (your grandad?) a few times in fochabers we were also invited to fish on their private stretch of the river Spey but my dad being a proud person never took them up on their offer Dad knew Audrey too and she now runs the company and has taken them so much further but that's in the past and must remain

And yes DM they do actually make great soups and beetroot but now so much more

Both Gordon n Ena passed away and Audrey took over as you correctly say.

Mrs M made me scones the other day and apart from being a bit stingy with the fruit they came out really well, I noticed the other day whilst out doing some essential shopping at Big C that she nonchalantly threw some bags of dried fruit into the trolley so I’m expecting a newer improved batch soon, clotted cream would be a lovely addition but I’ll make do with buttering them and spreading on the strawberry jam.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.
