Watch for the first local Covid-19 transmission cases in ~4 months some time in late September.

What jobs are you referring to KP, the tourist industry, the sex industry (does not exist in Thailand). International Tourism contributes around 12.5% to Thailand's GDP. Its unfortunate for those who make their living from it but do you really think that allowing International Tourists into the Country is worth the risk to the other 87.5% of the Thai economy and that's assuming tourism will ever recover to the levels it was pre Covid 19. What about the workers in the factories, the shopping malls, the street food vendors amongst others who were all shut down. Now some people are desperate to allow the 2 week millionaires back in to drape themselves with semi clad girls with the risk of another major shutdown if cases erupt again. I for one don't want them here and none of my Thai family does either. Many people can still afford a bus back to the home province to see family and children. They don't need loadsa cash.

Yet more holidays

Just what IS NOT NEEDED .. another long weekend with government departments closing backing up paperwork... is it really so important to celebrate this and will locals be chucking water crashing vehicles and getting bladdered all of which could lead to local infections of Covid 19 resurfacing triggering another close down .. WORTH IT or Not ????

Don't think it is anything to do with celebrating Songkran DM. More to do with all the Government workers and registered private sector workers getting their full quota of the enormous amount of public holidays that Thailand has. No water chucking (enough falling from the sky's at the moment) but getting bladdered? probably YES. Covid, Covid Who The F@ck is Covid.

SK In the guise of another invented long weekend holiday will boost local tourism spending thus the economy and keep the wolves from the door .. wishful thinking !!.. watch the ensuing carnage and backward step against fighting Covid .. be interesting to see infection numbers after this all so important present to the people holiday..at least the dirty foreigners arent allowed in to get involved.

Possibly more important to watch the rise if any of Traffic related deaths and injuries following these holidays. a good indicator of lawlessness on the roads.
