yes, gasoline fluctuates, meat prices fluctuate although on a rising line.. Veggies too with season and again on a rising line. funny though how some things I've been buying at Makro for 10 years now remain the same price or just a baht or two higher... a Bag of coffee grounds, a box of cereal, dog food, cat food.. all pretty much the same price they were 10 years ago..

Easily explained ..... when I was buying dog/catfood 10 - 15 yrs ago it was ridiculously overpriced when compared to other items .... As with most things like cereal/ground coffee it was a very small market back in the day, but as more locals are eating cereal and drinking coffee the importers can purchase larger quantities and demand better rates

One area that has "inflated" considerably in the past couple of years in the specialised bread from Big C

From memory, in 2019 the French Baguette sticks were THB24 - today (after a 1 week absence in Ban Dung), THB37 = +57%.

Large sourdough loaves were (again, from memory) THB74, today 85 = +11%.

These have been gradual increases.

Every cloud has a silver lining ...

Pork prices may be going crazy but other meats are becoming more popular and an entreupernerial Thai in Angthong is promoting his products as an option

Crocodile meat is now cheaper than pork ..

Dare i do it .. yeah why not

I ordered a crrocodile sandwich n told the waiter to make it snappy .. SORRY

Rabbit is also cheaper than pig now .. but they are so cute n fluffy i couldnt possibly murder one...

When I was a young man, I trapped muskrats. I had almost a half mile of creek that my uncle owned so no competitors. I sold them to an old native Indian guy. He paid the same if I skinned then or sold them whole. One day I asked him why he paid the same price skinned or not. He really didn't want to tell me. I finally coaxed it out of him. He packaged them up and sold them as rabbits. He said people couldn't tell the difference. At that time, the price was $1.35. Eventually the price dropped to less that 50 cents. I quit trapping then.

Local news stories on telly about crocodile meat being a cheaper alternative to pork. I've eaten 'gator in Louisiana and found it quite acceptable but I didn't liken the taste or texture to pork.

Apparently noodle soup with crocodile now been served and croc farmers are making a killing even at prices circa 70 to 105 bt per kilo depending on quantity being purchased.

Ive not noticed ANYTHING going down in price

Found it quite amusing that an article in yesterdays Bangkok Post quoted the Chairman of the BOT saying inflation will stay under 2% this year and be even lower next year. With Fuel, electricity, bottled gas prices rising, pork and chicken prices nearly doubling and even Deans Sunday lunch prices rising 10% how can the say that and expect people to believe them. As you say Jon what is going 'down' in price to even out inflation to under this magical 2%. Maybe taking lessons from the TAT

Wow things really are bad if even Archa has gone up .. on the bright side your taste buds will be heaving a huge sigh of relief and getting ready for a drop of real mans beer ........ CHANG.. .. or just drink watter timmy , as near to Archa as you can get.

BTW i found that ARCHA makes a great cleaning agent .. add a splash of vinegar and brings up the tyres on my truck like new .

You can buy crocodile meals at a restaurant in udon.
Not bad.

Price of pork has gone up because the yanks are using the Offaly for transplant organs.
