Re: flights times
I've always spent the night in Bangkok so I can avoid the mad dash. Wife has a great friend that will put up with us and if she's out of town we opt for a hotel near the airport.
Re: flights times
Not sure if it's an option for you but I've flown with only a carry on before to avoid wating for bags. Plus you can check in on line for the connecting flight and go straight to the gate without needing any check in at swampy. Then it's just a case of how busy passport control is, and if it's really tight just ask to skip the line

Re: flights times
Are there any flights from BKK (Swampy) to Loei, or does one have to fly from Don Muang?
Similarly can one fly to U-Tapao from Loei, or just from Udon?

Re: flights times
There seems to be only 2 daily flights from/to Loei and that is AirAsia to Don Muang.
Also there are no flights from U-Tapao to anywhere in Issan.

Re: flights times
Thanks fella's for the follow up suggestions...
now looking at going the day before , last flight out of Udon, and stay at the BKK airport until 1100am..
just means afew changes to already purchased ticket and hotel reservation...
Wish I could travel light, but have this huge suitcase that fits a motor mower, or solar panels, and is needed to haul booty back from the motherland, on my return..

A suitcase for a motor, solar panels, etc.
You definitely do not travel light.
Any BKK hotel suggestions?
Have a pleasant safe voyage.

Re: flights times
My experience transiting Suvarnabhumi inbound yesterday, the new-look immigration halls are busy but there was some shenaningans at the bottom of the ramp into easternmost immigration hall. It now seems to host the VIP Fast Track lanes and had a big backlog of people being stopped and having their passports checked by a swarm of blue jacketed (non immi) staff. I trucked on over to the westernmost immigration hall where they was less congestion with only one flustered blue-jacket sending a Brazilian lass off to do something about a Yellow Fever certificate or shot or something. I did note that the smaller immigration hall in between the main ones that USED to host VIP's is now signposted for eVisa arrivals.

Re: flights times
They still have them?
I came in last Weds and asked the Flight Attendant for a Fast Track voucher. She said they didnt have them. I was offered 1 for AUH but was transitting so, didnt need it.
No queues anyway when I got to immigration and was in the lounge waiting for domestic flight within 35 mins of disembarking international flight.
Re: flights times
There was a temporary looking sign apologizing for temporary disruption so maybe that immi hall is getting the upgrade?samster wrote: ↑October 9, 2022, 10:07 amThey still have them?

I think most of the airline VIP vouchers disappeared ages ago? Maybe too many getting handed out like lollies or getting recycled. There was a small immi hall in between that main ones that used to be for those with of a higher class of travel or vouchers or other entitlements including the +70 crowd. Only ever used it a couple of times. Just noticed in passing that it's still there but the new signage for eVisa users.
I was through quickly enough as well. Dropped the bag off and tried to stay awake in the lounge. Transited through KUL on the way here and that airport is like the grave compared to BKK so whatever Thailand is doing to get the tourists in seems to be working if that is any yardstick of efficiency, economy, etc..
