BANGKOK, (TNA) – Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn will file complaints against more than 100 immigration officers allegedly involving in illegally issuing visas for foreigners including Chinese investors linked to gray business in Thailand.

He said about the progress in the cases that the investigation report had completed and he would go to Khon Kaen and Udon Thani provinces this week to file complaints against immigration and local officers in connection with the illegal visa malfeasance.

Pol Gen Surachate disclosed that they took advantage during the Covid-19 pandemic to allow visa applicants to use photo identification for visa renewal instead of to report to the authorities in person.

so, an announced visit. If he's got the goods on specific individuals perhaps he'll bring his flying squad to march the miscreants off in cuffs?? I wonder if that happened if we'd see the office locked up?

I would expect the trip is more window dressing than anything else. There will have to be some arrests, or reassignment that will be well publicised, these will be low level officers but they will toss in somebody a bit higher up the food chain for appearances sake.

Within three months it will be same, same and a few of the miscreants will be back on the job.

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

I recall immigration people holding the netcam to take pictures of other people's pictures on their smartphones. Saw it at Jomtien years ago as well as Udon before Covid. I guess they were processing those applications in absentia.

saw a huge stack of either Lao or Viet passports being processed by photographing the PPT photo.. Seemed a bit out of sorts although it appeared a Visa Broker brought a huge stack in to get processed...
