Elecric razor?

Post by choi choi » May 21, 2023, 7:04 pm

Haas anyone puchased a "dry" Electric razor? Not a wet type one.
I cant be arsed using foam shavers.
I had a philishave for 20 years! Still working. But heads are breaking up!
So old, parts discontinued.Does a good shave too!
Any recommendations?

A wet or dry shaver is the same as a dry shaver, and twenty years on a Phillips wet or dry will be a mile better than your old girl. Speaking from experience...

I bought a rechargeable Braun electric razor from Argos in Accrington. Use it for dry shaves. Just noticed a little label saying "wet & dry"

20 quid

Bought Braun battery shaver last year in the UK.
Braun is OK but the thin foil over the cutter only lasts just over a year.
Got recharchble batteries from lazada . Best batteries I've ever had.

I thought that an electric "wet shaver" only means you can use it in the shower, ie. It's waterproof. I don't think it means it can only be used with water. My Braun (with wet & dry sticker and made in Germany) has only ever been used as a dry shaver. For a wet shave, I use a Bic 3-blade and a really really good shave stick that I bought in Australia. No messy foams and gels any more.

You can get replacement foils for Braun shavers on lazada as well.

The one I bought has a compartment the holds gel. Press a button and omits the gel. But I used soapy foam.
Works fine and a good shave. But rather use dry shave.

I have a conventional twin-head Philishave bought in Central. Also useable as wet but I plug it in using the coiled cord it comes with.

Might be worth trying Central’s (formerly Robinson’s) electrical goods section, same floor and area where they sell kettles, blenders, microwaves and the like.

Sounds like Chinese over engineering of a simple process. There's some stuff they sell on lazada that looks like a great idea and then again, there's the WTF? stuff.

Another possible place to look is Amazon, understandably some may have an adversity to importing anything.

Personally I’ve always found Amazon to be fine.

Amazon shipping costs more than the product. Besides that they are in bed with FedEx. FedEx is in bed with Thai customs.

That depends on what you're buying and the quantity thereof. It's not a given that all amazon overseas purchases to Thailand will empty your wallet. Due diligence is required and this involves not assuming amazon's duty calculations are correct.

None of the shipping companies, be it FedEx or DHL, are 'in bed' with anyone.
