I'm sorry, I'm not a Habitat staff and can't answer all your questions.
I give up. ](*,)
I don't think he reads anything, just types.

Yep...I'm convinced now...

Here is a photo of a house with the same floor plan:

We built it in Aceh for a tsunami orphan in 2006. The houses in Udon will have the same floor plan but a lower wall height.
You're welcome to come watch others lay blocks. Thanks for your encouragement.

Thanks BM
I was wanting to see the difference between the ones they build here from there.

HFH is a wonderful thing and if you ever get a chance to help out, it is great.
I've helped on 10 houses built here.
The last one we built in 7 hours. ( 200 people working like ants )

Update: They've poured the slabs at both sites. At "Oui's" house they've laid the first course with the anti-capillary layer. It looks beautiful already.

HI Geoffrey,

I met one gentlemen who was a project manager for construction sites in the UK. Now retired in Udon. I believe he was a mason by trade. I will see if I can find his contact details for you. I don't like volunteering people, but he seemed like the type of guy that would love a project such as this.

Thanks John,

A retired mason would be an especially valuable person to help supervise/teach enthusiastic young volunteers. I think Habitat may be on site Monday, Christmas Eve, and Wednesday Boxing Day (and the rest of Christmas week). They want to lay the first 10 courses and pour reinforced concrete sills before the volunteers arrive. The volunteers will be on site for only 5 days. I believe good supervision is critical to build a beautiful house. The earth blocks are beautiful and well laid blocks make a very handsome house.

The 12 Australian High School Students happily laid the blocks for the first bungalow in 3 days. We excpect them to finish the 2nd house on Thursday. Come on out and see. The 2nd site is 2 km off the Udon-Nong Khai road. From Udon make a right about Km No. 149 just past an underpass directly in front of a temple. Go about 2 km on a concrete/asphalt road. The site is behind a noodle soup shop on the left side of the road. If you come to a hard right turn in the road, turn around and go about one hundred meters back.
Peace
