get metal or rigid plastic blades 48" with a single central light:remote control. most of the crap out there are 5 light dust/cobweb collectors and blades made of sawdust, stickers & glue. spend a bit more for a bit of quality.
Like this IMG_8540-2.jpeg
Ultra quiet, LED light, 6 speed forward and reverse, with a DC motor so 1/10th the running cost of AC fans.
I've just installed 2 of them in our living room.

well i went ceiling fan hunting today , so first i went to look at boonthavorn , had some other business there too...
saw some very nice fans , with light , net price 7.000 baht , remote extra 1.400 baht ...mr ken ...
without light about 4.500 baht , no remote ..., the nice flower one 14.000 baht ...pffff
so normally 16 years ago when i moved to thailand i would have bought them all...as my priorities were different than , now i try to look making a quality home at an affordable price using good materials ...not expensive ...
so i bought some ridiculous cheap fans in dohome ...
DSC00741 (Copy).jpg
not sunlight but starlight , also 10year warranty on the motor ...
2 with light at 2.102 baht and 2 without lights at 1.965 baht ...what the hell if they break down ,and warranty is rubbish throw away and buy new one ...
than i went to the shop next to yamaha tung si muang , and bought 3 like this...
DSC00742 (Copy).jpg
3.200 baht/piece/ including remote (sunlight /compass east company)
i have one like this for 5 years now in our kitchen and is doing fine except for the remote that had to be replaced ..
universal remote , fitting most fans 1.200 baht (bought one to fit 1 cheap fan ) ....
all together 18.934 baht , for 7 ceiling fans + 1 remote....
i really liked the mr kens ones also at boonthavorn , but it would have been all ready 14.000 baht for 2 fans without remote,so a gamble with the cheap fans but time will tell good or not ..
@jerome , al nice info but try to post some prices for the goodies also , thanks ...
happy shopping to all .... ;)

So kinda like to look at what you got at "the shop next to yamaha" tung si muang

some maybe dumb questions

1. What is a tung si muang
2. next to yamaha (must be at least 50 yamaha dealers in udon if not a 100)
3. wife says "she knows" but can't tell me where, or whats it near or what it is!
4. Heard that before, not looking for the trip from hell again.

So I already know its near a Yamaha dealer, will I am guessing dealer,
so where in Udon is it? Got map? any thing I can search for? a ....?

thanks

oh, how is the light? bright? one bulb?

fair suck of the sav Barney..I am a wash and wear kind of bloke, a number eight wire repairman, no need for spoiling myself with a swish fan with a light on it, that goes out of fashion , and out of parts, before you can blink..

as for the family, got one off the drink, and now working for me caring for me bull, and others family lined up to follow suit when we develope our new land acquisition...

will catch up one day Barn.

Isn't that where Philips electric move to? That's where I bought the switch that doesn't fit. Other day was looking for other electric shop on that road, been before, but could not find it. Old and memory not very good these days.

enormous sign on old corner shop "Philips" and still there, still has ceiling lights in the window, easy to find. I guess been empty years now, always wonder why not sold. Seems it was always referred to on UdonMap as "Philips Electric" back when.

Compared to old shop, seems organized. In old shop had to dig to find things, even employees.
