Hi, my wife loves Americano coffee, and prefers to make it with Robusta.
Anyone know where to get this?

My understanding that any locally grown robusta beans would be from the southern provinces. All the stuff from Chiang Mai to upper Loei is arabica. FWIW, she can try some Nayung arabica beans at KavinBuri in town and if she likes it, buy beans from the Nayung outlet at Udon airport. Really good and IMHO much richer than other local arabica beans I have tried.

I think the Zolito Dark Roast beans in Makro are robusta. I used to drink coffee from those beans only.....but then started mixing 50/50 with the Coffman Arabica beans, also sold in Makro. The Zolito are about 185 Baht per 500g. The Coffman about 320 Baht per 500g. Perfecto in my Bialetti!

Dropped by makro yesterday and the coffee aisle looked like it was just about to be restocked. The only Zolito bean was the expresso derivative and just about anything else, bean or ground, was also expresso including Suzuki. I like expresso served as an expresso but not keen on it for the morning, multi-cup from the cafetiere (French press).
They had one bag of Coffman left but it was the 1000g and around 660 baht so I passed on that until I can sample a smaller size... thanks for the mixing tip.
In lieu of going to the airport to get some Nayung beans, I ended up checking Villa's selection and they have Boncafe 250g morning bean on special at 102 baht. Not my favorite by any yardstick but at that price for a backup, I can't complain. I also noted they had some Gevalia (Swedish) ground on the top shelf for upward of 400 baht. I get this when working on Norwegian ships and it aint half bad.

That's quite a good selection pf Vietnamese coffee there. I would be tempted to try that weasel coffee though.... if someone else buys it!

To each his own, but to those who aren't familiar with robusta bean, they are cheaper beans which are easier to grow than arabica. They are more bitter and have more caffeine.

I got a terrible French press from Villa which burps up grounds and same day as an experiment I bought the Suzuki plastic + paper filter setup. The Suzuki works much better and was a third of the cost.
But time now to step up to a Bialetti though I'd be at a loss as to explaining why it might be superior to the 400thb items I invested in, maybe someone else could.

So is Arabica the type to buy, if one likes milder coffee?
