Good question. I've never heard of anyone teaching Issan. When I've asked I've always been told it's better to learn proper Thai first and pick-up the Issan later.

To make sure you are getting good value listen for a slight American accent and good pronounciation for a good indercation that this lady is educated. Does she pronounce "room" or "loom" does she say "very sorry" or "very solly" it's your money udonites roll the dice and take the chance. \:D/

The lady has a BA with a major in English and speaks the language quite well. However, lets not forget she is teaching Thai and not English.

Yeah but she has to teach in "English language" for us to understand to be able to put the points across. No good if she just waffles a load of Thai or pidgin English we don't understand for 30 hours we would all be lost and out of pocket . [-X

Some would argue that the less English she (and you) speak in Thai class, the better off you'll be.

odd that I have never learned a single thai word on a bus on the infamous Som -Tam social mat in the VIllages where Thai is the only language spoken .. I think you need a Teacher that is fluent in both Thai and English language Especially when you are a beginner, therefore I will not participate untill a good report comes from a valuable friend or associate full stop . You just had TWO recommendations from people who have studied with her. What more do you need? Go talk to her yourself, and determine for yourself if there is an interest in pursuing the class.

Khuan Is with out doubt the best Thai teacher that I and my friends have had in Udon, after going to other schools in Udon over the years never felt as happy with the teacher as when at her classes which were informative and fun.

We were lucky to be studying at her classes the same time as fdmike.

Here is another recommendation:

Chuan is friendly, fun and a very good teacher. Great value for money lessons if you are serious about learning Thai.
