A guy at the night market in front of 7/11 had golden retriever puppys a couple of months ago. Gave me his card: Pii Noi 087-2237205

Please be aware that they don't actually retrieve any gold.

If you choose to buy from the night market by the train station be aware parvo virus is fairly common.
I've got 2 dogs from there and both had it. Fortunately both survived as I took them to vets the next day.

We bought our two golden labradors from a breeder on the Ban Dung road just off the main Udon Nong Khai Hway, they also had long hair retrievers, cost us 1500 baht for each dog, now one year on they are good dogs, not inbred at all.

For what it is worth, my Vet here informed me that many Dogs sold at the Night market apart from having many illnesses are also weak as the mothers are continually bred.
Now her advice was to trawl the vets, good brreeders will be looked after by a vet and the vets know who is breeding what, may take more time but youi will get a better dog. I acquired my Golden retriever from a person selling them as he bred them, sadly he no longer breeds ( he died ). But healthy she has survived two scares in the last 10 years and is fine , her brother died because he wanted to play outside with the cars at 6 months old. Something I was unaware of until too late, the offending car never came back ever again the locals advised him.
So by all means purchase from the night market but as someone else said seek vet advice and a check-up immediately to allay fears and then you will know whether you have spent your money wisely, once you buy a dog there is no take back damaged goods and many vets here will never put a dog down. You will just have to pay the bills forever.

Slightly off topic, but do Jack Russell's exist in Thailand?

True I did not blame the car driver but I did as I heard the dog squealing after the car hit him and it carried on until the undercarriage pushed the body out and the driver did not even stop. That was why I was angry, the driver knew what he did and did not care. How many of you would not stop, a 6 month old Golden retriever is not small. The other dogs did not run out.

The pet store across from the school and next to Bangkok Hospital (on UD Town Drive) had some nice looking golden retriever/lab 50/50 mix, 3500 Baht.

As for dogs on the street.....given the chaotic traffic in Thailand.....never knowing when a motorcycle might suddenly be within inches of the side of your vehicle......I decided long ago to brace myself and not swerve if a dog came into my path. To me, loose dogs is Thailand's version of animal birth control. I've killed chickens, dogs, one cat. No regrets. t.i.t.
