Interesting Forum Statistics

No excitement or tempting thread titles again, and Croc Ian must be either sleeping or not home yet (I like it when Ian posts), so thinking about statistics and Harmony's suggestion to further analyze and correlate.

How to get views, what inspires Udon farang, and what's in a name? (thread title?)

Bar with Lady Boys in Udon, 37 replies and 1802 views in one month.
Thai Men Don't Measure Up, 20 replies and 357 views in 24 hours, will it catch up?
Either way, this extremity seems to draw interest.

Be Happy, by Galee, 0 repies and only 65 views in 3 days.
The four main extemeties (arms and legs, or lack thereof) not on people's minds as much as the little guy, or perhaps the title simply didn't pull in readers.

Frankly I found "Be Happy" the best thread in weeks, due to the link to great content. Sent the link around the world in an email, lots of positive feedback. In fact Youtube shows it has had nearly 20 million views! Go to visit "Be Happy" and share with people who may need an attitude adjustment

OT's "I was thinking thread" must hold, statistically, the most viewed nonsense on Udon Map.

Seriously, It's interesting to see where some threads, that at first seem unlikley to get much attention, move on and get tons of interest and responses. This has to be due to the moderating being fairly well balanced and allowing things to go on a tangent within reason thus keeping the members on this forum posting. Some posters do get annoyed when their posts get deleted or threads locked when they havn't finished ranting, I've no idea why. As for sponsors plugging their business here there and everywhere on the forum - who really cares about that? Some sponsors prefer to keep to their own threads to push their businesses along, others don't. Let the mods and management sort that one out which I think they are talking about now.

OT, Harmony or others, a research proposal, who are the top ten or more "posters" not counting moderators?

And, to give them credit for their effort, how many posts each among moderators?

OT can't give you the top ten most posts by a member, but I should think beer monkey still holds the most posts at between 14 and 15,000.
If you add BKKstan and NKstan posts together (same person), he's posted more than 10,000 times, and is still active where as BM has gone to the -------- forum as a moderator.
Bob's got the top posting slot for a moderator @ over 9,000.

whourdaddy,IMO,2 posts a day since joining is a good contributor.Early on in the forum, there were less topics covered already, therefore more OP,s by the members, including myself.

Personally,I had not been involved in forums, other than looking up info once in awhile, and I got very involved with this forum as it was local and I thought a good way to make social contact in the area. Not being used to anonymous forums, culturally ignorant of English humor,a big ego combined with my defensive nature of aggression and confrontation,I found myself in many ''slagging''matches, spending extra time on the computer and I did a lot of excessive posting!

My name change from bkkstan to nkstan was directly related to not being able to log on as bkkstan, for some reason and before instructions were sent from the forum admin,I just decided to change my login name to get online, plus it represented my being from NK at the time rather than BKK.My initial involvement with the forum was as bkkstan while living in Bangkok and before it became Udonmap,as I was looking for information about the area!

For me,there are less topics of interest now as far as information is concerned, more small talk, everyday happenings in Udon that I am not privy to,so I don't post as often anymore, as my experience and opinions are limited.I don't like to get into conversations with people I don't know involving small talk and humor!

I always try to share my experiences, thoughts and opinions to help others and allow them to get to know me,not to be argumentative, contrary or self-righteous,although I am not always successful in my attempts or purpose! :-s
I am definitely guilty of allowing some posters to get under my skin and reacting, rather than ignoring them, something I do much better at the present time!

Beautiful Girls Contest

The thread had 91 views in 4 hours, perhaps the appropriate title had something to do with success in drawing readership?

I think what is more interesting than the gross number (ie total posts), is the posts/day.

On the other forum there is a poster who exceeds by 20%, the daily postings by UM's previous record poster, the erstwhile Beer Monkey (23.5 v 19.2/day).

That really would take some beating. :D

Fortunately, here he has a rather more subdued history of 0.6/day. [-o<

Interesting Forum Statistics - Benzona Saga!

Post by rct » November 1, 2011, 12:58 pm

Benzona's personal saga is nearly in the UdonMap Hall of Fame based on 10,967 views in two months to date. Not sure if he knows this. Though he was in fact at some point interested in the quantity of "views" to his thread.

*****
Previous winners "How many views", back on April 2 (first post in thread)
Where to eat
12,419 Little Italian Restaurant (wow, congratulations Alberto)
7735 Irish Clock a distant second (no surprise, IC tries hard*)
5295 Steve's Fish N Chips a respectable third (hmmmm)
*note IC might win if his multiple threads are consolidated...

Heath & Beauty
3178 Viagara (anyone surprised?)
2573 Denstist Updates (fair enough, a basic need)
2353 Paul Dee (reason? any correlation to #1 above, or just effective advertising)

Nightlife
37,314 Koala Bar (surprised, what is with this place?)
6651 Nutty Park
3840 Mr. Tongs
3179 Come on Lads (this one is surprising)

Six months since posting on this, popped into my head today upon seeing Cherm Chim about to hit the 100,000 club!

Cherm Chim 99,405 views!
Bookhouse 47,473
Little Italian 38,096
Irish Clock News 28,700
Gentle Massage, men by men 12,616

This last one so many views. No judgement, just curious......no pun intended.

Now, what ever happened to Benzona?

OK, question is not about forum stats, rather about youtube music video stats....

When someone sees a youtube music video with over a billion hits, let me know on this thread.

I see some getting 500 million hits already, though perhaps I am not up to date on global pop culture from my home in Udon Thani.

Youtube is going to change the world in more ways than one. Comedians, artists, mr. fixit, you name it, they'll come out of the woodwork. Some will find fame.
I found this piece in the NYT interesting......it's about a bumb step in a subway in NYC. Probably been there for years, tripping up people. But some filmmaker does a 2minute video of people tripping on the step.......it becomes viral, and the city steps in and fixes the step post haste. The filmmaker gets 300,000 hits on his video.....probably more attention than all his other work put together. 300,000 people get their jollies watching people trip up (I laughed). And, the city fixes the step in a quick fashion....when otherwise, it would have been very low priority.
http://vimeo.com/44807536 the video
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/ ... e-over/?hp
Just one of perhaps millions of ways youtube is changing the world.
