FOODS FOUND BY MISTAKE

Champagne
Champagne wasn’t always the epitome of good taste, it was once considered the result of shoddy wine-making. In fact, 17th century wine makers spent a lot of time trying to get the bubbles out of the fizzy drink. However, eventually they grew to love it and when French monk Dom Pierre Perignon cracked the perfect formula he famously said "Come quickly! I am drinking the stars!",

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes
Corn Flakes came about when Kellogg’s founders John and Will Kellogg were attempting to make granola. The duo accidentally flaked wheat berry, then experimented with corn and realised they were onto something. The recipe was perfected and Corn Flakes was eventually rolled out across the world.

Blue cheese
Legend has it blue cheese was invented by accident when a drunken cheese maker left behind a half-eaten loaf of bread in a cheese cave. On returning, he discovered the mouldy bread had transferred to the cheese turning it blue. These days, it’s made under more controlled circumstances with specific bacteria.

Popsicle
Did you know, the inventor of the Popsicle, the much-loved summertime treat, was an 11-year-old child? In 1905, Frank Epperson left a cup of soda with its stirring stick in it on the porch overnight and when he went outside the next morning it had frozen. Frank called his invention the ‘Epsicle’, because it was like an icicle, and later made it for his own kids who called it ‘Pop’s ‘sicle’. The catchy name was patented in 1923.

Ice cream cones
It was a moment of thinking-on-your-feet that led to the invention of the ice cream cone, which some might go as far as saying ice cream is incomplete without. It was at the St. Louis World’s Fair, in Missouri, in 1904, when Syrian concessionaire Ernest Hamwi decided to roll up some zalabia, which are crisp, waffle-like pastries, to help out a neighbouring ice cream vendor who ran out of bowls.

BREAKFASTS IN OTHER PLACES

Georgia: khachapuri
The country of Georgia starts off the day with its decadent national dish, khachapuri. This baked dish consists of leavened bread that has an open middle filled with melted cheese and a cracked egg. The idea is to rip off pieces of the thick crust and then dip them into the ooey-gooey centre.

Japan: Japanese breakfast spread
The full breakfast spread in Japan has miso soup, fish (salmon or mackerel), rice and a few side dishes. The fermented soybean dish natto is also a popular breakfast item in Japan, though its slimy texture and strong taste and smell give it a love/hate reputation among foreigners.

South India: Idli vada
Idli vada with chutney and sambar is a common breakfast staple in southern India. Idli are white disk-like cakes made from steamed rice and black-lentil batter. These cakes are often eaten alongside vada, fried dough that's similar to a savoury doughnut. Small side dishes of chutney and sambar, a vegetable-based lentil soup, are also served.

DANDER

What It Means

Dander is a synonym of dandruff and is also used to refer to anger or temper, especially in the phrase "get someone's dander up."

// Some people are allergic to pet dander.

// The customer's disrespectful attitude got the waitstaff's dander up.

BANNED FRON OTHER COUNTRIES

Brad Pitt
Pitt was not allowed in China because of his movie 'Seven Years in Tibet.' The film depicts the 14th Dalai Lama in a positive way and shines a negative light on Communist military officers. But Pitt returned to the country in 2016.

Selena Gomez
Selena was banned from Russia for supporting LGBTQ rights. She was barred from entering China over a picture she took with the Dalai Lama.

The Beatles
In 1966, the band were banned from the Philippines after declining a breakfast invitation from the country's First Lady.

What It Means

Benevolent means "kind and generous," or less commonly, "organized for the purpose of doing good."

// The event's reception was courtesy of a benevolent anonymous donor.
// They belong to several benevolent societies and charitable organizations.

now , maybe i was hasty. the imperial measurement system encompasses an extremely
broad range of categories. i doubt if the metric
system can completely supplant it. your thoughts
earnest? are helis metric or u.s. standard sizes?

Aerospatiale Puma was metric, Westland Wessex was Imperial and Boeing Vertol Chinook was US Standard.

From what I have seen, not many unrelated to combat.

I recall that their approval for commercial operations in the UK's North Sea oil sector was cancelled.

what a nightmare. (3) different possible thread
counts , in addition to fastener " grades" at least
(2) complete spanner/ socket sets. or more if
6 point, 12 point, or impact gun rated. thread chasers . everything probably drilled for safety wire or cotter pins. basically need a machinist

I recall that their disappearance from the North Sea was linked to a crew change chopper crash. The decision suggested that Chinooks were overly-complex and not suited to crew change operations. Some remained in use on purely cargo and logistics support.

Yup, it's not the main reason I avoided working the North Sea but they did have a disproportionate amount of offshore chopper accidents and not unique to any one make or model.

This one happened offshore Malaysia back in 2013. I was on another seismic vessel offshore Philippines at the time using crewboat transfers but this is what we train for every 4 years.

I read a man disguised as an elderly woman in a wheelchair tried to smear a cakelike substance on the Mona Lisa in an apparent climate-related protest at the Louvre. He was referred to a psychiatric unit. Vandal.
