That’s another thing maaka, most of us are married and aren’t really interested in the “delights” of Soi Samphan
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Doubt whether many bars will open in Sampan Day/Night or Nutty Park.
If social distances are applied not many of them could get more than 3 or 4 customers in.
It also depends how strict the police enforce the law.

might depend on the slight reduction in the tea money funds for a few months to protect the long term assets

before, the business owners association motto
was " come on guys , let's all support each other
for a brighter tomorrow ."
now it's " i'm doing okay but you're foooked mate, every man for himself , i'm just looking out for me"
hysterical

Most bars would be happy with 3-4 customers . Good luck to all

a lot of places downtown are doing a thriving trade . because they got their ordering/delivery
systems sorted. sorry if that doesn't jive with the
" illiterate mates" narrative, that prophesizes doom
for all those in city not on their supplier list

Ok everything is going well up town and everything is hunky Dory ,so what's this thread all about then ? I thought it was about what will happen when or if they open again . To me bars closed ,hotels empty and some restaurants giving huge chunks of their profit to food panda and grab is really a disaster. Oh and they just extended the lock down another month ,that's good news for closed down thriving businesses then ?

Re: What will happen to hotel/restaurant/bar prices?
Many of the restaurants i used to use are struggling . Take aways are not going to cover anything like normal revenue figures , but it does keep some staff employed .
I have also noticed a vast increase in the number of Grab , Food Panda , kamakazi pilots on the roads . Many with new shiny scooters . So at the moment its good for them at least , the ones that survive that is .
But when things do get back to normal how many will still be able to make the payments ?

Re: What will happen to hotel/restaurant/bar prices?
Until the final details are published, talk about various businesses shutting is a tad premature, obviously with the Curfew in place for another month many places of entertainment will close permanently ( aka Bars ) , I forsee one month with zero income manageable, but TWO , questionable , although pundits have proven me wrong before .
Restaurants a different question one which has not as yet been promulgated relating to their in-house practices to re-open.
I hope the Do-it-yourself places are reopening as are the Supermarkets fully ( not just for food )
Interesting times lie ahead.

Depends on what the new "normal" will be.saint wrote: ↑April 28, 2020, 5:13 amMany of the restaurants i used to use are struggling . Take aways are not going to cover anything like normal revenue figures , but it does keep some staff employed .

Re: What will happen to hotel/restaurant/bar prices?
Let’s hope the new “normal” isn’t the doomsday scenario some of us are predicting, a lot of people have sunk good money into their businesses and to lose too many wouldn’t be good for tourism, I guess what we also have to think of is that tourism is often the beginning of new relationships with people meeting partners and pumping money into the local economy as well.

The new normal in my opinion will be much like the old normal , except for any difference there may be when things do get back to normal . Clear enough ?

Do you ever go to the bar in Kham Kling that sells the frozen (jelly) beer? I wonder if he’ll reopen, he wasn’t so busy anyway but the bar was handy if I fancied a bottle or three. If he closes I think that’s the only bar in our area, there’s a few mom and pop shops but otherwise we’re knackered. There used to be some around the lake behind the wat but not sure if they’re still there either.
