I like that!

Actually, it comes from Greek, Πολιτικά, Aristotle's eight volume tome on political philosophy. In case anyone wants to read it, here's the Loeb edition of the entire work, which has the original Greek and the English translation on facing pages.

Well. I was trying to think of an example and Great Expectations came to mind but then I said no. Pip ends the book by running way to India after losing all his money and Estella marries a brute who beats her up...so quite bleak if you think about it.

Pride and Prejudice might be a better example.

What's the opposite of bildungsroman? I rather enjoyed reading of the moral and psychological disintegration of your typical Dostoyevsky protagonist. I really liked the dude who took out the old usurer. What a tale that one was.

immaculate
adjective | ih-MAK-yuh-lut

What It Means

Immaculate means "spotlessly clean" or "without flaw or error." In botany and zoology, the word describes beings that have no colored spots or marks.

Despite the constant demands of school and fatherhood, Javier kept an immaculate home, tidying up whenever the opportunity arose.

Even a minor scandal has the power to tarnish an otherwise immaculate reputation.
