Post by peterk » December 7, 2021, 8:41 pm

Hi folks. Is there a nice place where one can watch the Formula 1 this Sunday night for a 20:00 start?

Yas Marina Circuit Abu Dhabi seems to be the best bet

Might be worth wandering round the places that are open and asking. Not been into town for months so dont know who is open. Possibly somewhere like Irish Clock? Dont know if Sports Bar is open or not , possibly Max's place, all within a couple of minutes walk of each other. I'd check what channel is showing it first, as many eatery owners may not be up to speed on various sports but they do know what channels they can access on their systems

It's this Sunday at 20:00 local time so there won't be any fighting with the Poms or Aussies for the Ashes remote.

Don't the restaurants (and bars pretending to be restaurants) have to shut by 21:00? Last years race took 1 hour and 35 minutes. You do the math.

I'm so bl**dy confused about who can do what at what times in what different places, I just haven't got a clue.

I thought if they sold food and passed the SHA test they could stay open to 11pm but only serve alcohol till 9pm, but that might be in a different soi

Thanks gents! I looked up the Sports Bar, it'll probably be a good choice. Yeah, the race goes for about 1.5 hours, or longer if there's a few stacks, especially like last week with the 2 x red flags. So need to find a place open late.
