Udon police apprehended 5 men, ages 24-40 from around Udon, and charged them with thefts involving at least 3 homes of foreigners. Police found a variety of watches (Rolex, Tag Hauer, Cartier, Guy La Roche) women's jewelry, and a variety of tools and weapons used to enter the homes and rob the occupants.
The first theft was on Dec 17 in Ban Na Wan, Nong Na Kham, involving a 45 year old Thai wife and her 64 year old British husband. The thieves made off with 200,000 Baht worth of goods. (I believe I posted an item about this theft (I translated some details of this robbery at http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/u ... 43239.html)
The second robbery occurred on Dec 28 in Ban Sook Ka Sam, Nong Na Kham, and involved a 46 year old German. Robbers made off with 100,000 Baht worth of items.
Then, on 19 Jan, the gang robbed the home of a 32 year old Thai wife and her 62 year old Swiss husband of 60,000 Baht worth of items in Tamboon Chieng Wang, A. Phen.
According to the piece, a white Mazda was used in all three thefts.

(Note: the article says the Udon police held a news conference on 18 Feb. That's obviously a mistake.....or I'm using a different calendar).
