That looks ugly but am I right in seeing through traffic can cross the bridge and it's the "Ring Road" that is affected the most?

That's correct. The bridge is open, but the road underneath is going to be closed. Thanks for clarifying.

Two months to lay the new, 3-lanes each way under the flyover? Then again, it's taken them at well over 8 months to get the new, wider bridges across the klong between the railroad tracks and Tool Pro and the north bound one is still not finished. But they're going ahead with single-lane operations both ways at the railroad crossing so the slow, rush hour slalom continues.

Major Rd blockages today at intersection, best to avoid if possible

School runs started last Tuesday. Notably absent was ANY work being done on the east ring-road widening from opposite HomePro, through the Global lights, across the railway and just shy of the PTT station. The northbound bridge has been laid but there's nothing but dirt either side of it. Traffic is down to single lane in both directions from 100 meters either side of the railway. The work teams were also good at refilling the dirt grades between the new road surface and existing roads. However, this has also stopped so now there's a suspension-breaking pothole on the southbound single lane and the 'step' heading west to east across the Global lights means most cars can only creep across on the green light. Maybe all the workers are now on the Santipol underpass project? For two months?

Tried it today.
Coming in from the East, West bound carriageway completely blocked off, city bound traffic can use overpass or turn north onto HW2 and there is a U Turn about 75 meters up from the turning to get to Big C etc. North bound on HW2 from KK interchange the road is reduced down to 2 lanes as you approach the overpass but there is one lane open for north bound traffic to go under the overpass and the usual turn off for the City. First U Turn and back onto HW 22 and the overpass to go east. Thought it was going to be a nightmare but only added 5 minutes to normal homebound journey.
So not too bad 'so far'.

I had to read Alex's guide very slowly in conjunction with the diagram provided and a Google Earth image. Then it dawned on me that true to Thai cartographic logic, when it comes to the diagram provided, North is where the 'cartographer' wants it to be. In this instance it's on the left. Saves me pulling my Ordnance Survey trained hair out.

Here's an augmented version for farangs.

Trust me, easier to just follow traffic flow than try and work out that map. Must have been drawn by a young officer (British Army anyway). But the plan seems to work. 8am going in, 11am coming out.

Coming from Sakon Nahkon direction towards town, just before the PT Gas/Benzine station on the RHS, there is a shop that sells bullding supplies, immediately after that there is a left turn, which if followed will lead you to the KK Road, only about 10 mins, drops ypou on the kk road just above the overbridge.
From there a U trun, go back to town or towards KK.

Extra traffic jam this afternoon.
individual go to visit around 5 o'clock a temple in Nong Bua Lamphu.
It looks like they use the airport exit by the army.

Today the traffic at the lights on the Soi Nong Bua/ Nong Sai junction has increased up to 300%. As the lights are only green for 30 seconds, not many can get across the ring road, definitely BigC migrants; took about 15 minutes this morning. Have already tested my route to avoid this snarl up.

You really hve to be imaginative to find a way around this minor problem, in finding routes to miss this junction .
Times and how to get there are an interesting diversion , even more so now that schools are back .
I have nop idea how long it will last but interesting nonetheless.

Same on north Udon Dutsadee along Soi 6 (Udon Christian lights), Phon Pisai around Nong Sim and Wearsai to the Global traffic lights as drivers try and avoid the long afternoon rush hour tailbacks on the ring road. It's contraflow on the ring road from PTT to south of the railway crossing. Northbound does have a shorter single lane bit but Southbound is bloody horrible. Add in the rich and privileged doing the Don Bosco school run in the rain, and you can get royally stuck.

Good news is GRAB will deliver to a vehicle rego number.
