Re: British Embassy seeking volunteer for Khon Kaen
I 100% get the volunteer bit but the fact they will not pay any expenses seems rather strange .. therefore by volunteering it could actually cost the lucky successful applicant not only their time but money engaging with the Embassy.
I fully understand the need for such a position dealing with tricky , possibly dangerous and humanitarian issues but are the British Government so tightarse or broke they need to do it this way. (the recent Swiss guy killing an intruder is one such case where this volunteer may be called in and it could be very time consuming and problematic if locals get in your ear)
Hang on tho you get to got to HM birthday bash .. oh thats ok then...my application is in...how about you KP ????

As a Bojo & Rishi suck arse, you really need to ask?Drunk Monkey wrote: ↑October 8, 2021, 10:32 am... but are the British Government so tightarse or broke they need to do it this way. ...
I recall the very busy volunteer British Embassy reps in Pattaya also quit due to overwork. Never being invited to the palace or even getting a birthday card from it was the deal breaker. Even their last one, a Thai national, pulled the pin on the job.
Wishing you success in your application anyway.

Go to man if a British expat passes away. Having to mediate between the Embassy and Thai family wanting his pension etc. No Thanks, and that's only one reason I wouldn't do it!

Sorry wrong Town.

I am not a Brit but if I were, I would certainly avoid a job like that. Sometime back, a woman knocked on my door. She had been married to a US citizen and lived with him in the US. Several years ago they divorced and she moved back to Thailand. He has since died and she wanted me to help her get his pension. I didn't waste a lot of time and simply told her to forget it because no way would/could that happen. She was somewhat angry at me but she did go away.

Do you get to wear a uniform and carry a big bunch of keys? If so count me in.
