hi , if it is still about moving bricks ? ,most normal pickups have a load capacity of 1100 kg /1,1 tons, so if the load does not exceed this weight pickup transport should be possible , as info .... ;)

Got the wife to call. No car rental, they all are including drivers.

It does not look like there are any Tata Heavy Duty pickups for rental. On the roads I see a lot of regular Isuzu, Toyota, and others with heavy duty springs and broad tires on the back with heavy loads. Does anybody know where to hire a one like that?

I always took those trucks to be owner modified so they can increase their payload (legally, debatable?) so not for general hire.
I had my patio delivered from Kumpawapi in a similar truck & I’d guesstimated 5 trips but he managed 2. It’s a given the tyres were rubbing through the arches on the second trip so probably ended up costing him more than a 3rd trip but hey, what ya gonna do.
Sorry, never seen any self drive hire places with “commercial” trucks

They look pretty much the same, not like owner modified. I talked to guy in a brandnew Revo, and he said it´s a commercial truck good for 4 tons.

I see them daily on the ringroad highly loaded with fruit and vegetables on the way to the big marked.

A new UNMODIFIED revo 2 door or smart cab pick up can carry max 2 tonnes .. many have added bars put in the rear suspension and / or shocks upgraded , if this is done the truck has to be taken to the Nong Soon transport office to have it registered as modified and its gross weight and carry weight plus hieght if rear loading cages or boxes are fitted , this modification document must be carried at all times in the vehicle when pulled over by the police.

I dont know of any modified pick up trucks that are for rent WITHOUT the driver only standard .

Just as info.

Thanks for the info. The guy I talked to said that only he could drive it. He must have meant that.

But 2 tons is enough for me. Are you sure about that?

Not disputing you regularly see them. They’re everywhere.
What I meant by owner modified perhaps didn’t come across as intended. I meant the owner has modified the truck, it’s not standard from the dealer.

I think you’re being a bit generous with payload there DM unless you mean what they can probably carry otherwise what you said. Our Uncle regularly follows us when we take two cars somewhere & he get stopped at every checkpoint I’ve seen & fined because his cage is 200mm higher than the cab & it’s not been registered.

Still not seen anywhere offering these trucks on a self drive basis so good luck & be sure to report back 👍

I carry 1.5 tonnes regularly in our revo .. plus it is fitted with a rear box that weighed approx 300kgs and this includes product i put in the smart cab behind the driver and passenger seats .. the same day i had the box fitted i took it to Nong Soon to be registered as modified along withe the reciept from the place that fitted the box this even though i didnt modify the suspension or shockers.

Toyota sales will tell you max is 2 tonne for a revo pick up despite what the official manuals state.

Oh dear ..looks like ive been over loading the old charabang .. being a high version truck its still drives very well even if that is /was the case .. i do make sure my tyre pressures are checked prior to a trip and use nitrogen not air IMO way better.
